The hotel is very disorganized and ill-accommodating. After a long flight I waited 4-5 hours to get a room as they had none ready for early check in and could not possibly prepare a room any sooner in the 4-5 hours I waited (this is on a Monday!) I sat in the lobby waiting and received no information or updates from the staff. No attempt at hospitality. My friend was given a key to a room that was already occupied by another guest!! If you want a smooth experience- this is not it The hotel is very disorganized and ill-accommodating. Hotel is located pretty centrally, in a bit of a warren of streets but handy for most parts of the centre of town. Room was a good size, service great, no complaints. Decor is very 'Hoxton' and 1970s, which I like. Others may not, of course. Marseille's a big, grubby, lively city and Mama Shelter fits right in. Recommended.

There is no normal coffee, no normal air conditioning. There was an attempt to make us pay for the accommodation twice. We paid for 2 nights' accommodation, breakfast and parking at check in. At check out we were asked to pay again.
