Mercure Sydney Wynyard

We stayed five nights and two days I had to ask reception for tea and coffee as ours hadn't been replenished. We used the restaurant twice, the first time it was so cold we had to get our fleeces from the room, the second time they had run out of fish and chips so we ordered pizzas, one was overcooked and the other was barely cooked. We asked reception to arrange an airport shuttle, they could arrange a taxi but not an airport shuttle. The hotel is in a good position and we stayed there four years ago and we will stay again.

Das Hotel liegt günstig zum CBD und der Preis ist OK. Leider haben weder Telefon, Fernseher noch Inernet im Zimmer funktioniert, auch der Concierge konnte nur feststellen, dass alles funktionslos war. Im Restaurant war morgens die Selbstbedienungs-Kaffeemaschine defekt und es hat sehr lange gedauert (ca. 10-12 Minuten), bis das Personal dann Kaffee bringen konnte. Aber das Bett war gut.

The beds are more than comfy here!! I was satisfied with my room,although the sound proofing isnt great,for outside noise.the staff were friendly and polite,and room service prompt. Over all happy. The hall ways really need sprucing up,but i understand theyve only just changed hands,so i 2ould stay again,its in a great spot

Wir sind nach früheren Jahren zum vierten Mal hier abgestiegen und nach etwas Anlaufschwierigkeiten beim CheckIn auch zufrieden. Das Hotel hat die Kette gewechselt. Aus dem früheren Travelodge ist ein Mercure geworden. Die Lage in der City ist unverändert toll – alle Sehenswürdigkeiten, Museen, Einkaufs- und Verpflegungsmöglichkeiten können problemlos zu Fuss erreicht werden. Das Haus ist in gutem Zustand und komplett ausgestattet. Wir hatten ein Superior-Zimmer mit King-Bett in einer oberen Etage gebucht. Das scheint uns wichtig – wir sind dann etwas vom Lärm des Hauses und der Stadt abgeschirmt. Leider hat das nicht wie gewünscht geklappt und wir mussten intervenieren und insistieren. Sind das Anlaufschwierigkeiten nach dem Besitzerwechsel? Nun wurden wir für nur zusätzliche 25 AU$ pro Nacht in ein Studio mit zwei Zimmern im 21. Stock upgegradet. Das Studio ist in neuwertigen Zustand, sauber und mit vielen Annehmlichkeiten ausgestattet: Toaster, Mikrowelle, Kaffeemaschine, Kühlschränke, zwei grosse Fernseher, gutes WLan, Sitzgruppe, Schreibtisch und kleiner Esstisch. Auch das Bad ist offenbar frisch renoviert. Einzig die Klimaanlage ist überaus laut – das hat eindeutig Verbesserungspotenzial. Das Housekeeping funktioniert tadellos. Die Platzverhältnisse sind im Studio natürlich wirklich sehr grosszügig und wir geniessen die Aussicht und den Aufenthalt mitten in Sydney. Das Hotel verfügt über eine angenehme Lobby und ein Restaurant fürs Frühstück und mit einfacher Bistrokarte im Parterre sowie Fitnessraum und Guest Loundry in der 21. Etage. Erstaunt hat uns, dass der Übernachtungspreis trotz Handwechsel und verschiedenen Renovationen nicht etwa gestiegen ist. Wir übernachten mitten in einer Grossstadt fünf Mal zum Preis von total 1'575 AU$ (inkl. Upgrade) - das ist wirklich ein guter Preis – und weniger, als wir 2019 zur gleichen Zeit hier bei Travelodge bezahlt hatten!

Absolutely horrible experience. Our hotel cards didn’t work, then being stuffed around with the non existent parking and being told two different things. We had to check out in a hurry. Our quick exit resulted in 6 of my rings being left by the TV. I called the hotel who claimed that there was nothing left there. Clearly extremely untrustworthy housekeepers as I know exactly where they were left and I have unpacked all of my bags to double check they weren’t packed away anywhere. I am absolutely devastated that they didn’t have the decency of honestly. I would never ever recommend anyone staying there.
