Not a 4 Star Hotel

Not a 4 star hotel. The only positive is the location right near River and city central on opposite side of Yarra river. In walking distance of Melbourne Park for AO. Beautiful river walk. The hotel is mediocre at best. Small room. Plain Jane. Window shade broke. TV reception not great. Took 2 requests and over 6 hours to get a second luggage rack. No one at reception at night and never answer phone. No help with luggage. Cleaning staff don't attend to details. No washcloths left one night, no extra toilet paper roll another. Didn't take all trash. Buffet breakfast is mediocre at best. Minimal selections. Eggs ok. Waffles cold. Bread doesn't seem fresh. Coffee horrible (from machine) unless you pay extra at the barista bar. Reception associate also functions as the "cafe" bar server so if you need to speak with receptionist you may wait while they are fixing coffees. No fitness center. I would give this hotel 3 stars at best, especially after having just stayed at a 4 star in Sydney which seemed like a luxury hotel compared to this one.

easy checkin, using a kiosk. Rooms ok but limited view. We had two rooms, one well presented the other had dirty bathroom and no A/c. The person in that room books his staff coming from Qld... used to

The room is nice however a bit small for the price however the location is very central and accessible. . . There is no car parking on site which is clearly stated when booking however the Establishment charges you to Park next door at Wilson’s Park which you pay for at reception and they give you a QR code to access the car park but the staff have absolutely no idea how that service works and there communication skills leave a lot to be desired regarding this which leaves you with an additional bill from Wilson’s Parking and then you have to negotiate with Wilson’s for that bill while sitting at the boom gate with traffic building behind you and a Zero care factor back at Mercure Reception The Housekeeping Service is very limited as they only supply the bare minimum of towels and for an 8 day stay they did not change the sheets (just made the bed) they do not even Mop/Sweep the floor and will not wash dishes !!! I personally found the reception staff to be very arrogant however My Partner had a better interaction in her encounters and I can understand that everyone is entitled to a bad day !!! However it leaves a bad taste in my mouth for this venue.

Not a 4 star hotel and is not refurbished as the listing says. The room was ok, bare and minimal but ok, but the bathroom was old, dated, dirty and needs work. Also they make you self check in on a tablet, even though there was a receptionist there at the time. That is not 4 star service. The only plus side to this hotel is the location, it is one block back from Southbank and just over the river from the city so location is good.

Hidden gem in Southbank.

Hidden in Southbank behind the Langham, this hotel is close to everything- all Southbank has to offer as well as the pedestrian bridge across the river. It is well priced and whilst there are minimal bells and whistles, it is clean and well run.
