Arrived around 10pm due to late flight. Only had one staff, waved me down to the electronic kiosk when arrived. Paid for the car park, waited for 10 mins until she was done with the previous customer, and then rudely pointed to a small sign on the counter saying the car park is full to refund me the parking cost. When asked where to park, gave very abrupt answers without careful explanations or map as if I was stupid for not knowing all the local streets. The room is also very average, some of the window latches are broken.

Mercure Newcastle is a midscale brand within the Accor group, this is important context to have whilst critiquing the hotel as people tend to unfairly rate it against their Novotel stays. Mercure gave us what we wanted in Newcastle, a comfortable stay that's relatively close to the CBD and at a great price. The hotel lobby smells fresh, is well-presented and very tidy. The rooms are clean, I found the beds comfortable and the overall quality consistent with what Mercure offers. Abby greatly assisted with our check-in process and ran many other errands out of good gesture. I do like to point out that there is a bar/club close by that sometimes plays music till 2am, depending on the day - so if you're a light sleeper, ask to sleep on the other side.

Recently stayed here, on arrival staff were very friendly. However the room was run down, bathroom was stained and mouldy, very dusty, we could not use the air con due to it being so noisey we were unable to sleep, on top of that we could hear everything from the neighbouring rooms which kept us up most of the night. Extremely disappointed in the place and would avoid at all cost.

Taylor, at reception, was very good both with guiding us to the hotel, (on our second attempt to find the hotel), and with our check-in. We believe that the hotel needs to better sign-posted on both streets.
