Central location, let down by staff attitude and comfort

The location is great and within walking distance of the Bell Tower and the Muslim Quarter. Overall, it is a good option if you are looking for a centrally located hotel in Xi’an. But I checked out feeling tired, unrested and irritated What I found frustrating: I usually stay in Accor hotels when I travel, especially in non-English-speaking countries, as they typically have staff who can communicate in English. However, when I approached the hotel staff with a concern, I was met with laughter from the team. I appreciate that laughing may be a cultural response when there is a language barrier, but it felt more like I was being mocked. The mattress is extremely hard and uncomfortable. I asked for a topper, but the only option provided was a blanket placed over the mattress in the hope that it would soften it. For a relatively new and modern hotel, I would have expected mattress toppers to accommodate different guest needs. The walls are not soundproof at all. When I arrived, I noticed earplugs in the room and initially assumed they were for street noise. I later realised they were for noise from neighbouring rooms and the plumbing. You can clearly hear phone alarms from the next room and water running through the pipes. I was moved to another room, but it made absolutely no difference. If you are expecting a hotel with a view, do not be misled by the name “Novotel Bell Tower.” My initial assumption was that the hotel would offer a full or partial view of the Bell Tower, given its name. I was completely mistaken. This was disappointing, as there are other hotel options around the Bell Tower that I could have chosen instead. Breakfast was acceptable, but the dining area was very dirty. On both mornings, I struggled to find a table, as many were left uncleared with plates from previous guests. Overall, the rooms are clean and the location is good. That is pretty much it. The staff were rude and unhelpful, the beds were very uncomfortable, and the rooms were noisy. This is probably not a good choice if you are looking for a plush or comfortable bed. Far better choices around at the same price. The use of an e-butler through WeChat was very efficient. We got our request for extra clothes hangers answered very quickly and the hangers were in the wardrobe after our return from dinner. This aside, the use of a remote control for the room toilet was amusing, only the flushing function worked, the rest didn't! And be careful not to drop it into the toilet bowl! Excellent location, within walkable distance to the Muslim Quarters and close to the Bell Tower subway station. Lots of things to shop and see around the hotel area. Would highly recommend this area. Very helpful staff by the WeChat name of 微[风]..雨 who helped to wheel my luggage to the waiting van out in the cold to see us to the van which sent us to the airport. Hotel has a mini afternoon tea offered from 2-5pm with complementary cakes, fruit and tea.

Very nice hotel, great breakfast and rooms are very clean. Staff were all excellent. The location is amazing, mall, shops, food, markets, south Xi’an wall and the bell tower are all extremely close.

酒店位置极佳，坐落在西安钟楼中心，酒店出门口就是2号线和6号线地铁钟楼站，从西安咸阳机场塔14号线到西安北站转2号线到钟楼站下车，出入方便。酒店周边紧邻鼓楼，回民街，城墙，永宁门，书院门，开元商城… 旺中带静，去其他景点大雁塔，大唐不夜城，兵马俑博物馆.. 搭地铁公交直通车也很便利。附近都有便利店，西安特产店，周围有很多不错的街边小吃和餐馆。整体来说，酒店环境，时尚装修，房间或设施都很好很新颖。房间宽敞舒适，酒店和房间配备设施齐全，浴室干湿分离，床垫很舒服，也有免费Wi-Fi网络使用。 所有的前台接待和其他员工都很有礼貌，友善态度，服务周到。特别感谢前台小尚，这两天的帮忙，给于我一个很美好的入住体验，推荐给想來西安旅游的朋友们！
