Great location, but breakfast was a letdown

Novotel Xi’an is perfectly located for exploring the city, right in the heart of the historic area with easy access to the metro, bars, and restaurants. The hotel did mention that noise could be an issue, but we personally did not experience this during our stay. They did provide ear plugs in the room. The rooms were modern, spacious, and clean, but the air conditioning was a major issue. It didn’t work properly, and our room stayed around 30 degrees. The hotel provided a portable air conditioner, but it was noisy and didn’t really cool the room so this is something to keep in mind. Breakfast was disappointing, with very limited international options and poor quality. It was not well replenished, and the staff came across as quite rude, which was unexpected. On a positive note, the hotel had good gym facilities and offered free self-service laundry, which was a great perk. One of the biggest downsides was the lack of English-speaking staff, despite the hotel website stating otherwise, we found communication difficult and had to rely on translation apps. This is not uncommon in China but for an international brand and the website stating otherwise this wasn’t great. However, the most frustrating aspect was the lack of recognition for Platinum ALL members. Aside from the free breakfast (which we had to ask for) and wasn’t great anyway, none of the usual benefits were provided, and staff seemed unaware of the program, which was extremely disappointing. Overall, a well-located hotel with modern rooms and good facilities, but the air conditioning, breakfast quality, and lack of ALL member recognition were significant letdowns.

My friends and I (total 3 of us) stayed from 1-4 March 2025. We have enjoyed our stay at this Novotel the Bell Tower. The location of this hotel is superb, close to metro line 6 and line 2 Exit H (with escalators/ lift access), also the bus stops are not far away. Staying in this hotel can easily roam around to the attractions nearby, e.g. Xhannxi History Museum, Beillin Museums, etc. Even can take the metro and a bus to visit the Terracotta warriors (more than an hour one way). Room is spacious and clean, toilet and shower is separate. Slippers, towels, toothbrushes and bathrobes are provided. The room temperature is a bit warm for us so we have the window opened. Staff are very helpful, nice and cheerful. Especially, Cindy Fu (GM) is very helpful to follow thru since my pre-booking email, booking my nights, arranging the extra bed for my stay till after check-out the hotel. It makes me feel warm welcome to stay in Novotel the Bell Tower. For hotel facilities, this hotel has a small gym (TechnoGym machines) with 2 no. of treadmills , some dumbbells with bench for weight training and yoga ball provided. It was clean with towel and water provided to the guests. Breakfast is buffet type with local xi'an food & western food provided, e.g. coffee, soy milk, noodles, salads, bread and bacon & eggs, etc. With the abovementioned and the valuable price for our stay, I definitely will stay in Novotel the Bell Tower when I come to Xian again.

酒店位置极佳，坐落在西安钟楼中心，酒店出门口就是2号线和6号线地铁钟楼站，从西安咸阳机场塔14号线到西安北站转2号线到钟楼站下车，出入方便。酒店周边紧邻鼓楼，回民街，城墙，永宁门，书院门，开元商城… 旺中带静，去其他景点大雁塔，大唐不夜城，兵马俑博物馆.. 搭地铁公交直通车也很便利。附近都有便利店，西安特产店，周围有很多不错的街边小吃和餐馆。整体来说，酒店环境，时尚装修，房间或设施都很好很新颖。房间宽敞舒适，酒店和房间配备设施齐全，浴室干湿分离，床垫很舒服，也有免费Wi-Fi网络使用。 所有的前台接待和其他员工都很有礼貌，友善态度，服务周到。特别感谢前台小尚，这两天的帮忙，给于我一个很美好的入住体验，推荐给想來西安旅游的朋友们！

We travel a lot and this place is truly awesome. The staffs deserved full praise for their dedication, enthusiasm, knowledge. They went all out to help us and nothing is too much trouble for them. The concierge Xiao Wei is particularly helpful. He explained everything so patiently and went all out to cater to our needs and even find extra information for us when we decided to do it ourselves instead of joining his tour!!! The location is superb, just beside H exit of Bell Tower Metro station. A lot of eating places and shopping. Easy to get metro to anywhere. The hotel is very clean and with amenities. For a four star hotel it supplies gown, slippers, fluffy towel etc. Washroom is very clean with hot high pressure shower. The toilet is separate from shower and separate from sink which is awesome. Toilet has bidets. There is fridge and kettle. Big screen TV with multiple channels. The room temperature is centrally controlled and is too warm for us, coming from cold Canada! They promptly deliver a swinging fan to our room when we complained. It put hotels in western countries to shame! The service, amenities and comfort we get for the price and in particular their attitude. If the staffs in this hotel is a reflection of the country, China will sure to go very far. My first trip in more than 15 years! I am wondering over!

Ultra-modern, high tech room, large and comfortable. But strangely for a hotel affiliated to an international chain, no concessions to international guests - no English spoken in reception, all instructions for operating the high tech equipment in the room only in Chinese, no foreign language TV channels. But on the whole a good, comfortable hotel, ideally placed for visiting Xi'an.
