Mantra On Kent

The location is great. However experienced few hiccups during the stay. Evan though the room was booked for three people the sofa bed wasn't st up. House keeping staff were not available after a certain time to make the bed so a separate room was provided by the reception staff. I was grateful for this however the room had new carpets, which gave very strong smell. It would be nice to have house keeping and room service at all times.

Very good location, short 5 min walk to Darling Harbour, train and city stores. Clean, super comfy bed and great front reception staff. The rooms had everything you needed for a comfortable stay- kitchenette and laundry in the bathroom. The hotel itself and rooms didn’t have a nice view though and was a bit gloomy, lacking a polished feel/vibe. Overall a good experience and stay.

We stayed at an Executive Studio on level 23 for 5 nights and overall we enjoyed our stay. Upon arrival, the sofa bed is set up nicely for my teenager son. As a result, the coffee table had to be moved next to the dining table, a bit crowded but still plenty of room for us to move around. The idea of using sliding door to divide the living and bed is a brilliant idea. Both my son and us enjoyed our own space at night. We're also amazed to have a darling harbor view from the window. Very convenient location, walking distance to Woolies and Town Hall station and the QVB. Heaps of small eateries around the corner. No housekeeping for 5 nights is not a big deal as we feel more at home and enjoyed the privacy. The toilet is very spacious with a washing machine and a dryer, we used it twice. Only issue is the dryer need a thorough cleaning, with a lot of fluffy cotton dust inside and on the top. It will be more convenient if a dish drying rack can be provided in each guest room. Currently all other essential cooking/dishwashing items are provided. We'll definitely book again if we visit Sydney in the future.

I have stayed at many Mantra hotels around Australia and they were all genuinely top notch. Comfort rather than luxury is what I was expecting, however the state of this place on Kent St really prevented me from having a comfortable stay. When I first arrived, the bathroom door was open and no ventilation was active, so a lingering faeces smell permeated the room. There was no bathroom clean between the two nights I stayed, so I didn't have enough towels. The hot water pressure was dismal - it only trickled through, so in order to have enough pressure I took an almost cold shower. Halfway between lukewarm and cold. And throughout my stay, the ventilation in the bathroom was so inadequate that I could hardly escape the smell of the toilet. I tried to just run the hot water after using the loo so that the steam would clear the smell but due to the afformentioned low pressure and temperature, that also didn't work. Clearly the place needs work and more staff before it will meet the standards I expect of Mantra. The front desk staff member who checked me in was perfectly polite, that was the only good experience I had during my stay.

Warm welcome from the receptionist on arrival. She was very helpful as new to area/ Australia. Room was spacious, well equipped and positioned very conveniently close to Darling Harbour When I asked for extra coffee etc this was quickly provided Was able to leave luggage in store before departing . Pity the WiFi was an additional cost if needed .for more than 2 hours
