My wife and I stayed here in Dec 2024 as an anniversary gift from our kids. The bedding was uncomfortable and was missing a flat sheet. There was a rip or worn section on the block out curtains which filled the east facing room with light at sunrise. The lighting was not dimmable making it impossible to have a romantic night Very disappointing to pay a 5 star price only to get a 3 star experience

I've stayed here many times and always had beyond excellent service across all touch points. The hotel is stunning inside. Perfect location on the water and if you're going to an event at ICC. If you can get a water view room, corner suite even, it's a dream. The bar is amazing - shame about the works currently but out of their control (was very noisy and horrible views - again, not their fault but be conscious - will be fine once over). I love my luxury stay here every time. Only thing, is it has gone up a lot in price over past year - a bit ridiculous to be honest, couple hundred and not inflation over peak dates, just general. So this has stopped me staying but if in your budget, perfect stay.

Many large hotels are labelled as 5 star. However, some that I have experienced in North America and other places see the customer as no more than a credit card number. The Sofitel in Darling Harbour is different. You are treated as a valued person. And the service beings as you arrive, whether by motor vehicle or having alighted from a light rail train at the station across the road. There are many concierge staff to greet and assist you. Most of the hotel rooms are of a similar size at about 35sq. m., which is good for a hotel at this price point. And I must mention the very fine cotton sheets and comfortable bed. The bathroom is also appropriately sized with a walk-in shower. A selection of towels is provided and toweling robes for a visit to the pool or fitness centre. On two occasions a housekeeping supervisor checked my room to ensure the room servicing was to the required standard, which it was. Breakfast is on L3 (except for those with access to Club Millesime on L35). There is a large range of dishes available including a selection of Asian breakfast foods. Full and ‘continental’ breakfast are available at different prices. The selection of fresh juices is extensive. I also liked the gravlax salmon. Once seated the serving person asks if you would like coffee or tea to be brought to your table. A nice touch. At peak times you may have a brief wait until a table is available. I didn’t try the restaurant for an evening meal. I did however request, on separate ocassions, additional milk and an ice bucket to be brought to my room. Both arrived promptly and were delivered on a tray. Quality service. The fitness centre has an appropriate range of equipment. The hotel costs that a guest incurs can be viewed on the room television screen. This enables checking out by simply leaving the room access card(s) in the box on the ground floor. Or return the card(s) to reception and receive a printed account or have it sent by email. The hotel is not perfect. Two issues to mention. Firstly, at times there can be a queue to check in, as some other reviewers have mentioned. I did observe though, while waiting in the foyer, that one of the staff was offering those in the queue a small refreshment. Class! Secondly, the pool is situated outside on L4. The area suffers from the wind swirling its way around the building. Even in lightish winds it was unpleasant lying in a sun bed with fine spray blowing off the pool water surface. I note that some cabanas are being developed. The money would perhaps have been better spent on reducing the wind effects. After all, the hotel is several years old and the wind problem has existed since it was new. Apparently, the pool water temperature is 22C, – a bit cold. Overall, a very nice hotel to stay at. Excellent staff and excellent service.

The service at this hotel was absolutely terrible I am a Diamond Member, the air-conditioning was not working in the room,I even asked prior to check in to check this as same issue occurred a year ago.

A bit disappointed with our experience at the Sofitel at Darling Harbour. For one, we were not advised that there was on going construction in front of the hotel, right below our room, and it was quite noisy for the first day. Secondly, the mini bar in our room was checked by an employee half an hour after we had checked in, which seemed rather odd. We returned back home to find that the hotel had charged with use of two items from the mini bar which we had not utilized. We have still to receive a response from the hotel in this regard, and not even an acknowledgement of having received our complaint. So now we are having had to deal with this issue through our credit card company. On a positive note the location is great and very convenient, loved the rooms which were very well maintained and beds are comfortable, though we were unable to regulate the temperature, to cool the room, so found it rather warm and uncomfortable at night as they only provide a comforter and no cover sheet.
