Great location but lots of renovations going on

Booked a deluxe 2 bedroom and room was nicely renovated. There was a lot of renovations going on which made accessing the hotel when we first got there complicated. There was also only 1 of the 3 lifts working while we were there which often made the wait quite long, I understand that these things happen but after speaking to some of the residents it had been like this for a number of weeks so we should have been notified prior to arriving. Overall the room was nice and the amenities were good so we would book again

Each apartment is individually owned and furnished. I stayed in Apartment 3D, Deluxe Ocean View. We have stayed in this apartment previously. We like this room, it is on a lower floor, nicely furnished, quiet, with heavy blockout curtains. The room scored a 9 out 10. The reason for the 3 star review is owing to the booking process and hotel facilities. I have a fear of heights, and this hotel is 41 storeys high. As I mentioned I have stayed in 3D before and we wished to book this particular unit again as its nice and only on level 3. I booked direct with the Hotel (All Accor chain), but was told I could only put in a request for that room, I also added request for a room below level 10. I subsequently called the hotel a few days prior to arrival to enquire which room I was allocated, I was told that they would not tell me and that rooms are only allocated on the day, I said well can you confirm at least that I will not be higher than level 9, again I was told no we can't. When I mentioned my concern and fear of heights all I was told was "Well maybe you should consider cancelling the booking, and search alternatives", OMG. On check in luckily I was allocated the apartment I requested, but believe the hotel caused me unnecessary angst. There needs to be a process where returning guests can book a particular apartment, I could arrange my travel dates around the apartment availability. Also the hotel only had 1 of the 3 lifts operating during our 9 night stay. The hotel is 41 storeys high, this caused long wait times, with the lifts often full. I was also concerned there was no redundancy, if this lift broke down, hundreds of guests and residents would be stranded. The surrounds of the hotel were untidy and cluttered with construction.

It is unfortunate that we even as a repeat guest are not able to guarantee a room, owners can at the last minute book their apartment and or what has happened in the past, a maintenance issue can cause issues where all bookings need to be moved. We do try our best, and we do advise guests that should you need to be guaranteed a room, we advise we are not able to take the booking on these terms , but as mention we do try our upmost to meet all requests. We are sorry to hear of the issues of the lifts, this was something that we didn't know of issues until it happened. We do once again thank you and we do hope to welcome you back again soon.

Did not get what promised at time of booking

I paid for ocean and city view but got only ocean view. When explained same to the staff they said there would be extra cleaning fees which is not fair because i booked before hand correctly then why should i be bothered. Moreover, i had only 2 days free with me in which one day would be moving for which i had to pay. Also, curtains were torn, tables had scratches, tv didn’t had internet connection can’t watch netflix . Customer service is very poor. Lifts were getting repaired so, lots of people adjusting in 2 lifts. Mind it, this is weekday still. I did not enjoy at all. What i thought and what i got were totally different

As you wanted to move rooms during your stay the price that you paid for included a cleaning and linen for the one apartment, if you wanted to move rooms there would be 2 cleans involved and therefor we are sorry we would need to charge you for this. We are sorry our TV's don't have Netflix, but I am glad you were able to look at the lovely ocean from your apartment. Second time staying here, although the first time was great, which led to rebooking, the second time was beyond ordinary. Firstly with 3 elevators, 1 was only working 50% of the time, meaning we would have to walk up and down 30+ flights of stairs constantly. Secondly when trying to relax, we couldn’t use the sauna as it was “out of order” majority of the time and only opening back up on our last day of stay, this was just frustrating. Spent my relaxing time trying to watch tv, however the wifi would connect to the tv, so I couldn’t watch the shows I was actually interested in viewing. Was not a big fan on the additional cockroach and moth roommates that come with the booking of the room, had to buy additional bug spray just to not wake up with one beside me.

Thanks for taking the time to comment on your recent stay, Yes I am sorry that they did have issues with the lifts and I was not aware that the Body Corporate who looks after the building had issues with the Sauna, The WiFI only does work on your phones and Ipads, not the TV.
