Fabulous location on the esplanade - so close to lots of great cafes and bars. The room itself was ok, with a nice view out over the esplanade. But was a little dated. The shower was a bath/shower combo which may be an issue for people with limited mobility. Its the little things that were a bit off-putting. The electric jusg did not have a very long cord, and would not reach the power point behind the main cabinet. So the alternatives were to boil water inside the wardeobe/cupboard, or take ot into the bathroom and boil it htere, beside the toilet. An acessible power oint on the wall in the room would have helped. I went in the pool once - it was cold, and that was ok, I didnt really expect it to be heated. However the spa was also not heated - I have never experienced this before - the whole point of a spa is to relax in warm water! So that was disappointing. There is chilled water availabe from a bubbler in reception, which was nice I was unaware that there was no housekeeping until check in - this may have been advised when I booked, I cant remember. But for a stay of 5 days, I think it would be reasonable to ensure 5 days worth of tea, coffee, and milk, and perhaps an extra couple of towels. These were all available on request at reception, but ist not really conducive to a relaxing holiday to be schlepping wet towels down in the lift. Overall, it felt like a hotel thats better suiyed to business travellers, or short stay tour groups that for holdiay makers. There are better places offering a more resort stye experience for a similar cost. It didnt feel like the 4 stars it advertises.

Unsafe, Misleading, and Deeply Disrespectful – Avoid at All Costs

This is not just a disappointing stay — this was a disturbing and unsafe experience that no traveler should have to go through. I booked 3 nights for AUD $743 based on attractive photos. But the room I received was completely different: it had a strong, unpleasant odor, visible insect activity on the bed, and was clearly unfit for accommodation. I calmly showed photos and asked for help. Instead of offering a solution, the front desk staff (Tom) dismissed my concerns. Shortly after, another man (Jone) came, and his behavior was deeply unprofessional — he mocked me, raised his voice, and then called the police claiming I was “trespassing.” At 3am, I was escorted out by officers. I am a solo female traveler, and this situation left me feeling shocked, helpless, and humiliated. Despite all this, I received no refund, no explanation, and no apology. I have submitted complaints to Queensland Fair Trading and QCAT, and I will be pursuing further action. I am also a travel influencer with 200K+ followers and will be sharing this experience publicly.

Service was disgusting, the place is very old no restaurant and their prices are ridiculous, our little one had an accident we took the bedding off straight away told them and they said no charge , neck minit it comes out of our account. Then our sheets had stains on them .

Very disappointing

Arrived last night and the guy in reception was quite abrupt and grumpy. We came up to the room to sleep as it was quite late and were very disappointed. It was tired, dated, smelled of moth balls and was nothing like the photos. This morning I went to check out the pool area which looked quite dingy. You need your key card to enter and exit but once in it wouldn’t let me exit. Thank goodness I had my phone with me as I had to call the hotel to come and let me out however her key didn’t work either. I had to exit through the toilets, gym and back corridors to get back to my room. I’ve just booked another hotel and we’ll be checking out this afternoon. Expensive stay in Cairns so far and we haven’t done anything. The tourist industry wonders why everyone goes overseas

Check in was good. The staff were friendly and helpful however when we got to our room I was pretty disappointed. We’ve stayed in Mantras all over the world but this room was tired, dated, smells of mothballs and nothing like the photos we saw when we booked. I’m also disappointed that for a 6 night stay the room will not be serviced unless we pay extra. Not hopeful the pool will be as advertised but fingers crossed
