Most overpriced hotel of my life

One shining light was the guy at reception (accent maybe German), ocean view was actually ocean glimpse from far side of dining room. Flies, ants, no restraunt, dirty /small / tired looking swimming pool, entrance is parking lot for car hire, elevator has electrical tape over empty button spaces, room smelt bad, hurtnmy thumb using key to open door to access the swimming pool because it doesn't have a proper handle. Size of apartment is good, but bedroom feels squeezed in. Again, this is not worth $200 per night , never mind $330

Couples visit - this place is clean and good location but has a lot of problems

Advantages: Great location by promenade Living room and bedroom are nice enough Apartment was clean and tidy but some wear and tear Disadvantages: Parking is first come first served and not enough for everyone. Saturday the spaces were all full and you have to just make other arrangements if that is the case Security was lax - locks on doors aren’t great, no secondary lock, small latch for balcony doors even when on ground floor and people could walk up to it. No in room safe but that was not on the list of amenities. WiFi is not included (we are Accor members so got it included though) but the WiFi did not reach to the living room or the balcony. No chopping board, no place for drying rack, hot plate took forever to heat anything and only had one space, no salt, pepper, oil or other basic things needed for cooking. No washing up liquid. Bathroom has a round Perspex box you can see into from the living room/kitchen and you have to pull a shower curtain over to block the view. This did not match the photos of the bathroom on our booking Bedroom door is a wooden concertina door that makes a racket and was falling apart. Balcony chairs were falling apart and not worth sitting on.

Stayed in 604 with ocean view but was on southern side of building. The main entrance is at cityside and good access to ocean side near RattlenHum Tavern & Night markets. Good bed pillows...the wall divider did not close, kitchen with washer dryer & clothesline on patio, bathroom with working spa plenty hot water, hairdryer, soap shampoo conditioner, lounge spacious with double fold out couch...it does sink a little, tv is good size but no wifi & foxtel was two stations, the sport station was unwatchable with lines, you mainly get free to air stations...accor consider getting netflix for rest days after busy tours. Balcony was good but needs new chairs, mesh has worn so sitting on bars. Aircon in main & bedroom. Tour desk great, train tour, daintree with billy tea safari & reef magic snorkelling not to be missed, expensive but worth it, its why you go there & Im going back. Rustys fruit market & all food outlets are close along with mariner. The main shopping centre & trainstation are relaxed ten minute walk cityside. Special mention to the cleaners who had my room ready a bit earlier, very friendly staff. Only let down....I was forced to join accor membership to access wifi which constantly drops on & off. For such a great location & being accor the wifi & tv should be better.

Loved our Stay

Once again we really enjoyed our stay at Breakfree. Valter, Sophie and the rest of the staff are always friendly and helpful. When the hairdryer was found to be faulty Sophie had it replaced within a couple of hours. We arrived after an early flight and Valter, after checking the room had been cleaned, let us in early. We stayed in a recently upgraded room which had been freshly painted and a new TV had been installed. The room was bright and had an exceptional view over Trinity Inlet. We stayed for a fortnight. and made good use of the washing machine, stove top ( tricky to use) and the BBQ in the beautiful gardens! The bed was comfortable but the furniture could be upgraded. Breakfree's location is excellent being directly above the Cairns Night Markets and next to the wonderful Rattle and Hum Hotel. Of course that does mean that it can get noisy and there is associated noises from various businesses but that's to be expected and the double glazed sliding doors worked a treat. It's directly across from the Cairns lagoon and close to everywhere you need in Cairns. We really loved our stay!

Great location but a little tired

This was a return visit to Royal Harbour for us. Last year our room was really good, but this year it was a little disappointing. Only one of the two hotplates worked, cleanliness was not up to standard, furniture was a little tired and we had to use a bowl from the kitchen in the bathroom as the sink did not allow for a plug. On the plus side though, the location was excellent overlooking all the action on the esplanade.
