We celebrated my mother's 100th birthday at the Kingsford lounge a first for the Pulman. Red carpet arrival at the front doors, beautiful signage to direct you where to go. Red carpet at the Kingsford room and a gentle long ramp for the not so mobile. Yes she walked the whole way. Excellent high tea, catered for 50, presentation and service exceptional. Seamless service, and lets not forget the events co-ordinator Miss Annalyisse. All the boxes were ticked and organised down to a T. Thank you Hugo for leading your team. And a big thank you to the chefs for creating a beautiful high tea. We have a chef in the family and she was more than impressed.

Not So 'Wicked' High Tea

At the Pullman Cairns International this January and February they have a High Tea which is Defying Gravity, as it’s Wicked themed!🩷💚 We went on their opening day for the event. It’s in the Coco’s Kitchen raised lobby bar area. We got Matcha Lattes and Champagne and the tiered stand came out with 3 sweet and 4 savoury items each on it. My favourites were the Forest blackberry & rosemary mousse with aero chocolate, Cauldron Chicken with cucumber on charcoal sourdough and the Devils Work beetroot devilled egg.😋 Then we got some teas to have with the Scones with strawberry jam, raspberry coulis & cream, the Ceylon Ginger & Honey Tea and Ceylon Tea with Strawberry. The combination of strawberry jam and strawberry tea was TEAriffic!😁 Highly recommend!🤤🫖 The High Tea food at the Pullman Cairns International is always done extremely well with both presentation and inventive flavour combinations and the themes keep them fun and exciting. It’s always interesting to see what they will do next.😍 Their ‘Not So Wicked’ High Tea is currently running till the end of February.🪄 Check out Pullmans website for booking and package details.✨

Disappointing stay

We stayed at the Pullmans over Christmas 2025. Underground parking was reasonably priced and big spaces so this was a plus. Unfortunately we were disappointed with this hotel for a number of reasons, and wouldnt stay here again. The beds were rock hard - we stayed here only for 4 nights as part of our trip, thankfully, and couldn't wait to not sleep in the bed anymore! There is in room snacks & a minibar, with no pricing anywhere, but nowhere stating these are NOT complimentary. The swimming pool is open until 10pm but it gets dark around 6:30/7pm - there are no lights in the pool at all. Also, the towels weren't replenished. The biggest gripe for us is that we booked their Christmas Day dinner, which wasn't cheap at $250 per person (no discount for our 13 year old!). This was meant to include a "premium" drink selection. I queried the price for my 13 year old, as over the road at the Pullman Reef hotel, she was at a discounted rate at her age. The hotel replied stating she could have mocktails as part of the package. There were NO cocktails or mocktails as part of the drinks package, nor spirits! It cost $33 for a rum & coke (which wasn't rum, it was definitely whiskey and wasn't drank!) and a G&T. So their "premium" drinks package was just wine, beer and soft drinks. Had we known this, I would not have booked this. Overall the food too was average on the day, and we were left very disappointed in the whole experience. Also the queue for the stations, like the fish station, was wrapped around the bar so you waited ages. Some of the oysters were gritty and I had to spit them back out. Overall, disappointing experience and the worst hotel we stayed in for our whole 3 week Australia trip.

Your comments regarding bed comfort, clarity around minibar items, pool lighting and towel replenishment, as well as overall room amenities, are taken seriously and will be reviewed with the relevant teams. I am especially concerned to read your feedback regarding the Christmas Day dining experience. A celebration of this significance should be seamless, transparent, and memorable for the right reasons. I regret the confusion surrounding the beverage inclusions, the lack of clarity around what constituted the “premium” drinks package, and the disappointment you experienced with food quality, queue management, and service flow. This feedback has been shared with our food and beverage leadership team for thorough review, as it clearly fell short of both your expectations and our own standards. My favourite Cairns hotel by far with fantastic stuff. Manny (30 years there) is great and Massimo so welcoming. As you walk in to the atrium you could be in Vienna with its old world opulence. My heart lifts! Mark, owner Blue Dive.

Nice hotel in a great location

We stayed in a king room overlooking the mountains. We did not get a upgrade as a platinum member which did not bother us that much breakfast was okay. Nothing special we didn’t have dinner at the hotel. Swimming pool area was okay but the downside is there is no shade in the Australian Sun which made it unbearable to sit around the pool and enjoy it. The pool itself was nice. Looks like a bit of renovations on the way but without the umbrellas and shade it’s impossible to sit around the pool without getting burnt rooms were very nice nearly decor bathroom very big bed was comfortable.
