Greeted by friendly staff. Good location. Huge rooms very clean. Hotel cafe food was fantastic. Tamarind restaurant was recommended but is closed Sunday and Monday. Close to everything.

Well, it was so nice to be staying in a fabulous hotel, knowing that every day you could return to somewhere with a beautiful room and amenities. Where every member of the staff always had a smile and would go out of their way to help you. We stayed for seven nights and it was a good base for being in Cairns. So close to everything. Visited the pool nice to swim in and relax by. Breakfast each day was very good with plenty of variety as well as the size. Did not visit the gym or sauna but looked good. Liked the way if you forgo the ladies cleaning the room when it wasn't necessary, and you were reimbursed when paying the bill. It is worth dining in the Tamarind restaurant which is attached. The warm welcome you when you arrive is just as nice when you leave. Absolutely great staff and accommodation. We are certain that we will return.

‘5 star’ - not quite.

A nice but dated hotel in need of updating. It’s in excellent shape but is clearly from the 90’s area if not before. It’s located very well indeed to central Cairns. Rooms are very large, beds comfortable, towels new and thick. Room amenities also good. AC is loud and water pipes aren’t insulated. I was on the top floor, level 7th and there was a constant annoying hum in my room, turning AC off made it slightly better but I think the mechanical ventilation or other motors must be on the roof above. Room light switches are only on one side of the bed, not both making it annoying if you don’t want to sleep in that side of the bed- a cheap move by the hotel builders. Breakfast is no better than a 4 star level. It’s cafe style from a menu. Don’t expect a 5 star Buffett. They think because they state this on their website it makes it OK. Also, breakfast tables are all over the place - I think they forgot to allocate a dinning area when designing the hotel back in the 80’s or 90’s; tables are in what appears to be a thoroughfare from the attached casino to the hotel. It’s very disorganised in appearance and somewhat slap-dash. Fruit platters come with fruit cut so thin it’s a joke. Once again this isn’t a 5 star hotel when it comes to breakfast. The only positive is breakfast goes till 11.30am. The Pullman International across the road has a full buffet breakfast but I think is triple the size of the reef casino Pullman, thus think a cafeteria zoo at breakfast esp on school holidays. This Pullman, like many Accor Pullman’s and Sofitels don’t have a club lounge diluting Accor platinum benefits significantly. More and more 5 star Accor hotels don’t have a lounge making it a poor value proposition. Only stay here if you get a great deal. I couldn’t even get a late check out as a platinum member.

As I pointed out in your last review, a la carte breakfast may not be for everyone, we don't try and hide the point that we don't serve a buffet breakfast. For those who wish for this style of breakfast and would like to line up with a few hundred people at breakfast time to scoop their food out of a communal dish we whole heartedly recommend our sister property, they are indeed 3 times the size of our hotel. They do a fantastic job at that style of breakfast. However, if a guest wants to be seated at a table and have a meal served to them without having to get up and have local Blackbird premium fresh espresso coffee made by a barista and served to your table we may be what you are looking for. You are indeed correct in pointing out our size is an impediment. Cairns being in a highly sort after holiday destination, the demand from our valued loyalty guests far outstrips our capacity of room types to furnish everyone's demand for an upgrade, an early check in and a late check out. Indeed, a late check out at 2pm makes it a challenge to provide an early check in and really upsets our valued Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond members who wish to check in at 2pm check in time. I do sincerely apologise that we could not deliver on this request due to our availability of rooms for incoming guests. We are very grateful that you have chosen to come back to Cairns and stay with us and found our large rooms, central location, comfortable beds and nice new and thick towels enjoyable. Our favorite hotel of the trip - five stars for sure! Would give it 6 stars if I could.

This was easily the best hotel of our trip. Great location, very quiet and luxurious rooms and a fun vibe because of the casino. The room was large enough for a comfortable 4-night stay, plush towels and bathrobes, and we had the best sleep of our vacation. They even offer a pillow menu where we could request a firmer pillow. The Nespresso coffee machine in the room made great coffee! There is another Pullman Hotel across the street that houses the Coco's restaurant. We had a delicious dinner there. The front desk staff were polite and helpful, and we appreciated the $15 credit they give you on your bill if you go for the "go green" option and forego housekeeping. We had breakfast at Merchants and dinner at the Soy Kitchen, both of which were good. The Bar 36 had daily live music that we enjoyed. The location of the hotel is fantastic - just a few minutes walk to the Reef Terminal and The Esplanade where you can find a ton of eating places.

Where these days do you find a 5 star hotel that is actually 5 star, for example, still offers turndown service, still has a wonderful porter and doorman service , terrific staff the absolute right people for these important positions. A spotless clean hotel public areas and rooms, a hotel that provides a clean, safe, functional garage to keep your car undercover, an amazing selections of food and beverage options with qualified , friendly , professional and hospitable staff at every venue. To have all of these qualities at one hotel is very rare in 2025. Special mention needs to go to the lovely dutch guy at bar 36 and all the staff especially chris at merchant cafe where we enjoyed the most tasty interesting breakfasts that have inspired to recreate them at home, thank you to these guys they run a highly efficient breakfast service. We were concerned that there would be delays in getting a table or food service if we were in a rush but it never happened , the staff are a credit to the management and hotel. thank you. The reception staff were as would expect, beautifully and professionally dressed, knowledgeable, flexible, and generous. The room we had again was of a standard and design not seen in new hotels thats the benefit of staying in a hotel with the space and functionality that gives you generous room and bathroom/ separate toilet. furnished balcony and the trinity inlet is beautiful. The water side of the hotel is the best in town because it does not get the afternoon hot sun so can be enjoyed all day, not so the case in other hotels.Eeverything you need is in the room so you dont need to make endless call, guest comfort has already been covered by the hotel.The hotel smells great even the lift sound /bell ( and i have never seen this before) has had its sound adjusted so it was not jarring and disruptive, can you believe that we realised about 3 days into our 5 day stay there was nothing to irritate everything had been thoughtfully managed .I can think of many other hotels that need to see this model of running a 5 star hotel.
