First of all , the staff at front desk were rude upon checking -in at around 9:30 in the evening . I was asked a 100AUD deposit and never got the money back upon checked out . Lift was stinky , fishy smells . Dark furnitures . Poor lighting in the lounge area . Not enough kitchen wares to use . Would be a bonus if staff were also friendly . Location was good but noisy . No housekeeping despite 239AUD / night .no extra rubbish bag for rubbish . Overall , it’s better to stay in Shang rila just add extra amount for a 5star accommodations rather than staying at Mantra and deal with the rude and disrespectful staff . I won’t recommend this place . No way . You need to train your staff how to treat the people with manners .

Hotel is perfectly located in the city centre, with the Chinatown tram stop directly outside. We only stayed for one night and found it clean and comfortable. We were upgraded to a suite, as we were celebrating a special Anniversary. It was spacious, well appointed and had a small balcony. We didn't hear much traffic noise. The hotel is old and could do with a refit, but the bed was comfy and the kitchenette more than adequate. The bathroom toiletries were very good. There is no lounge area in the hotel, just a small lobby, but there is secure luggage storage. I would stay here again, for a night or two.

Great location friendly check in staff within walking distance to central station, paddys market and many restaurants have stayed here many times in the last couple of years to go to festivals and concerts highly recommend to anyone needing a comfortable place to stay

Amazing 40th stay

We arrived a little early, the room wasn’t ready for us, so we completed the paperwork, dropped off our bags and mentioned we were celebrating my 40th Birthday. We went to have lunch and returned to get settled in the room where we were greeted with a bottle of wine and a beautiful chocolate. The one bed apartment was a great size for us with a (nearly) 2 year old. The only negatives for us was the positioning of the toilet in the ensuite (room 601) was not useable for us both being 5’11 and 6’1 as there isn’t sufficient room in front of the toilet for your knees. And the TV was not as smart as you would expect, it would have been great to be able to connect for our daughters shows during down time. Staff were absolutely amazing all the way through. We will definitely return for the perfect location (for our needs) right near China town.

The marketing photos make the room look much nicer than it is. In reality, it's very tired, dirty, damaged and in need of a major upgrade. Very disappointing as an Accor member, and Sydney is unfortunately overpriced (I paid nearly AUD300 per night). - daily housekeeping was advertised and never turned up - bathroom has cracked tiles and sink, dirty grout, dust/grime on every surface/crevice, needed a good deep clean (or a total renovation). plus towel rails coming off the wall - terrible patchy paintwork in the room - I touched the floor lamp and it practically fell apart (pole came apart from the base). - aircon is ancient and even on the coldest setting it was too warm in the room - items shown in the photos (eg cushions on bed and sofa) were not in the room making it look sad and cheap not vibrant like the photos - only one drinking glass was available - lots of noise from the trams outside However location was good (easy walk from central train station) and the staff were nice. Aside from the room being very disappointing I didn't have any other issues.
