After staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village many times, we were getting tired of just feeling like a number and no longer a valued guest. From the moment we arrived, Ala Moana Hotel staff were kind, efficient and we felt valued as a guest again. When we needed another towel, one was brought up to our room before we made it back up the lift! The hotel has a large Starbucks in the foyer which was fantastic and a ramp from the hotel to Ala Moana shopping centre providing easy access to the shops. The room was clean and spacious. We will stay here again.

We live on Maui and visit several times per year. The hotel is a 10 out of 10. The restaurant was a 0 out of 10, so I am giving a 5 rating. Hotel is beautiful, now more than ever, staff great, etc.... The restaurant needs a complete overall, staff, food, decor, etc... For a restaurant in such a nice hotel, this was deeply disappointing breakfast from start to finish. An unpleasant odor greeted us upon arrival and lingered throughout the meal. It did not appear to be a temporary odor, but the place just smelled old and dirty. Service was lackluster at best. Staff appeared to just do the minimum, very slowly I might add, and the woman upon checkout needs to rethink her career. The one exception was a manager (a gentleman who appeared to be the manager) who worked hard to handle his role well, but his efforts couldn't rescue the overall experience. Having spent many years in the industry, I'm reluctant to write negative reviews, but this restaurant needs a complete rethink. It is out of respect for your hotel that I am sharing my experience, nothing more than that. I'm a busy guy. I challenge the hotel's leadership to sit down for breakfast here and honestly ask: Is this the experience you want representing your hotel? Thank you, Ario P. 80…

We had to use 911 to transport my fiancé to the ER. The hotel staff helped guide emergency personnel to our room. My fiancé had to stay all night in the ER and required an emergency surgery the next morning. We were checking that morning but now had extend our stay. bed had memory foam; prefer solid extra firm mattress. Toilets are very low for seniors; should replace with newer, higher ones. Step-in to bath tub is high; there is grab bar in tub but it is on opposite wall. Should have grab bar on side parallel with edge of tub.

Housekeeping was fantastic. Pool staff were the same. The reclining cream pool lounge chairs need to be checked. Some are in really rough shape. One back could not be lifted beyond the first notch and another had a totally unhinged back. Trash cans in the elevator lobbies need to have larger openings and overall size. Often folks are throwing their takeout containers that don’t readily fit in the public trash. Similarly the trash cans in the rooms could be larger to hold more for those of us who do not get housekeeping everyday. Another suggestion would be to put an ice maker on the pool level.
