Nice rooms and good breakfast. Location next to station is excellent for a short break to cambridge, only one stop into the centre. However, when we checked in the reception staff gave us no information about the rooms/app/pool etc. A basic check in. We got to the room and the TV hotel information didn't say much other than download the app. We scanned the code given and nothing just a blank screen. So when trying to book room service or control the heat in the room forget it if you can't access the app. Went downstairs to ask and they just said order at the bar! takes away the idea somewhat of room service. No mention of why the app did not work or enquiry to help us resolve this. In the night it was 20 degrees to hot to sleep, so we had to open windows. Next day went to use pool which is long walk along corridors up and down stairs. Couldn't access with key card. So back to reception again as no notice on the door why, to our surprise it was oh you need a special card and need to sign this form, fine so why not tell us this at check in or in the room or on the lift wall? I advised reception about the room heat and she said oh I can control this back office again no mention of fixing this app issue. Staff overall smile but do not attempt to give any service at breakfast a there you are pointing at the resturant as you walk past. I see its a new hotel so I would urge the mangers to look into these issues as looking at reviews not just me saying it. They are easy fixes and will stop people having a less than happy experience.

Pro’s The room was clean and comfortable Con’s 1) The pool was very cold, sauna was broken which was disappointing. 2) We parked in the North Cambridge car park as suggested by the hotel. Our car was broken into on our first night. The hotel staff could not have cared less and did not make any effort to help us whatsoever. 3) We were told just as we were about to check out that if we had booked breakfast in advance for our first and second day we would have had a discount on the second day. 4) As we sat down for breakfast a lot of the food was dry, and being taken away and not replaced. In a nutshell, clean and tidy hotel with very unhelpful/ poorly trained staff. Will not be returning.

Terrible experience !! (Staying here and writing this) Pros ———— - Rooms are neat and well maintained - Clean outdoors and indoors - Railway station is nearby - Bus station is nearby - Supermarket nearby Cons ———— - Absolutely no guest care , as in don’t expect the feel of a guest, they treat you like they gave you a place for free and you are at their mercy - The people at the reception are terrible at handling problems in general and blatantly lies with no regrets - AC controller has been failing to work for last 11 days during my stay and I complained 5 times and to this minute no-one has moved a finger to fix it - If you have a problem reception will tell you these things “Manager isn’t here”, “Maintenance is not here” , “ Maintenance is out today” , “ You didn’t tell me , you told the problem to someone else” - Gym access is like a maze, you have to find a secret entry via 1st floor and then end up in ground floor , but can’t enter via ground floor …lol! More to update later , This is turning out to be my worst international stay ever.

Lovely room, comfortable stay, great transport links! Only fault is no hand soap in bathroom!

Stayed here for one night with family. Location is ideal if you’re wanting somewhere with good transport links and not wanting to stay right in the city; not far from motorway and the train station is on the same site. We were able to visit Cambridge easily by hopping on the train. Excellent for parking. The room was clean, modern and the bed was huge. We also had a second bed made up which I believe was a sofa bed. The room was very quiet and must be well sound proofed! One thing I did notice however was that there was no hand soap in the bathroom, I had to use hand sanitizer that I had in my bag. Nice big walk in shower with Rituals shampoo & shower gel, no bath which was fine for us, maybe some rooms have baths? Would definitely visit again.

An absolutely terrible experience simply down to key staff being poorly trained!

The location, facilities and cleanliness tick all the right boxes but it's people that make the experience! My stay at Novotel Cambridge North Hotel is, by far, the single worst hotel stay experience I've ever had! Pool/gym area etiquette was non-existent and not managed. Outdoor shoes and clothing worn poolside with food and drink being consumed by people with camera-phones! Plus a total lack of parent supervision of very young children with zero appreciation of personal boundaries! So much for enjoying a relaxing break time there! Then of course the fire alarm at 3:30am which highlighted that staff are not trained to deal with fire evacuations and have no safety awareness! It was a shambles, with a complete lack of management or accountability from any on-duty staff. Not a single staff member followed any noticible fire procedures, with no fire marshaling, no help or support, and absolutely no urgency shown from staff. (They would be clueless in the event of a real fire!) Guests have to assume it's an actual fire, so need support, especially being woken by a fire alarm at 3:30am and having to put up with bottlenecks in fire stairwells due to zero Marshalls in action! Everyone left to guess if it was a real fire or not, and if and when they could re-enter the building!!! Even when prompted, staff (who stayed inside the building!) were reluctant to do anything to manage and provide clear communication to guests! I'm sure Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service would be able to assist in training staff in what to do in those circumstances, including how to keep fire routes clear and moving as well as how to manage guests once they've actually managed to exit the building! I'm surprised staff are not fire trained already for such a facility!!! 1 reception female, 1 evening restaurant male and 1 morning restaurant female, were the only staff that did their jobs well, but that wasn't enough to make up for other clear shortcomings. An absolutely terrible experience simply down to key staff being poorly trained!
