While visiting friends in Milton Keynes we stayed at Mercure Milton Keynes. Plenty of parking. Lovely modern clean reception. Had 2 wait to check in as staff were busy elsewhere. Our room 159 was a few minutes walk from the reception. 3 steps on route to our room. So ask for accessibility rooms if you can't manage steps. Our room was in a quiet position with a pleasant view of the grounds. Our room was roomy with a generous sized bed. A desk with kettle, teas and coffees, hairdryer, a large mirror, lamps. Bedside tables with bedside lamps and a draw. The bathroom was adequate size, a few things were in an odd position. Hand-wash and glasses were above the toilet and not by the hand wash basin. Toilet paper wasn't very good quality. Shower wasn't very clear which way to get hot or cold water. Room service was available. Nice restaurant for evening meal and breakfast. A starlift for wheelchair users to get to the bar and restaurant. Outdoor dining pods which are heated and have a lamp. A water fountain in reception for guests to fill water bottles. A small but well stocked gym. Not staffed. Hotel is very close to the golf course.

Overall the experience was very good. Great staff and in particular a young lady based in thecbar that served us Saturday night. Breakfast offered a great selection and prices in the restaurant are what you expect to pay. The only disappointment was our room upon entering was extremely musty with a big red mark on the bed cover which you hoped both would of been noticed prior to our arrival.....

We regularly have small business meetings in the bar area which is nice and quiet and occasionally stay for breakfast, which is delicious. The waitress Virginia is always incredibly friendly and accommodating.

FOOD POISONING - STILL MADE US PAY FOR BREAKFAST THAT WE MISSED

My Father and I both got food poisoning from the restaurant. We had afternoon tea, then fish and chips in the evening. That night I had the worst stomach pains and fever. All night I had constant diarrhoea and vomiting, the pain was so bad. I slept on the bathroom floor, and had to throw all my clothes away. In the morning, at 9am, my sister (who was staying in the room with me) went down to breakfast (she didn’t have the fish the night before) and told the staff I had food poisoning and could not get out of bed, so would not be coming to breakfast. Upon checking out at 12noon, Dad said he had diarrhoea too all morning. The receptionist still charged us for my breakfast, firstly saying that food poisoning does not start until 24 hours after. Then said she cannot take the price of the breakfast off, because we booked through booking.com, and to contact them. Also the hotel said the Chef would ring me to find out what happened, I received no phone calls. I emailed Accor Hotel Group, to dispute having to pay for the unused breakfast, and got a really rude reply stating they wouldn’t refund me because I waited until 9am before I told them, I should have informed them as I was being ill. How they thought at 2am in the morning whilst crippled with pain and vomiting and constant diarrhoea, I could get to the phone in the bedroom to ring them, I don’t think the cleaner would be impressed ! Then went on to say, without a doctors note to confirm my illness, and the fact it was only Dad and I that was ill, (there was only about 5 other people in the restaurant) they would not be refunding the breakfasts. It’s just the principle ! Not only did I have to pay for the poisoned meal, I had to pay for the breakfast that I missed, because of the poisoned meal. Awful customer service, obviously I would never stay at a Mecure Hotel again. I have informed the Council of their food hygiene standards.

Hotel is not bad, but could easily be better. The good The staff we met were friendly and helpful The breakfast was hot, although could do with a bit more choice. The shower was excellent, hot and plenty of water The bad The room just looked a bit tired. The floors creak like mad Missing bulb in the lights Mould in the shower Would come back, but probably not the first choice in MK
