The cleanliness of the hotel is great, I definitely couldn't fault it for that. The decor is also very appealing, very modern, with clean and sleek lines. The location is great, right next to the train station and opposite a well stocked Co-op. The negatives that we experienced were as follows; we had to wait more than an hour to get access to our room (for which the hotel did give us a free drink voucher), but after a long drive we really just wanted to relax in our room. The sauna wasn't working, and we were not informed of this prior to our stay. There were many broken lockers in the changing rooms, which meant that our belongings had to be kept at the pool side. As I said, overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely return on the premise that the sauna would be working and the other little issues would also be sorted.

Stayed here for one night, having booked three rooms for an over-night stay in Cambridge with family. The location is ideal, being just a stones throw from Cambridge North railway station and it's associated bus stops, from which you can catch direct buses into Cambridge city centre. The hotel is modern, light and tastefully decorated in a Scandinavian style; minimalist but cosy. Rooms are clean and of a nice size, with plenty of storage, and the bed was comfortable if slightly on the firm side for me personally. Having said this, we both slept well (although this could also be put down to the gin and tonics from the downstairs bar area!), and despite the station being next door, the rooms were incredibly quiet. Bathrooms on the surface are clean and modern with a big walk-in rain shower. Upon use, however, the water pressure was terrible, with many of the holes within the shower head not producing a stream of water at all! The water temperature, even when on maximum was far from hot. Breakfast was ok; certainly not as good as other hotels I have stayed at within a similar price bracket. There was a good selection of both hot and cold options, but staff were slow to replenish - we all ended up with different breakfast items from the hot buffet as not all were available at any given time. The hot food (like the shower!), also had potential to be a lot warmer. Fresh fruit, yoghurt and continental options were also available, although I was considerably put-off by the hair in the chopped fresh fruit bowl. We made use of the swimming pool mid-morning after breakfast. Although pleasant, and a nice addition to the hotel, the area does need a little more attention to detail with both the poolside area and changing rooms needing a more thorough clean. As previous reviews have mentioned, the sauna is still out of action, awaiting a replacement door. The air temperature both in the pool area and changing rooms was cold and the atmosphere was less than relaxing, with loud upbeat music playing through the speakers - if it weren't for feeling so chilly, I might have thought I was at a pool party in Ibiza! Upon returning to our rooms after our swim, we found that the access cards to all three rooms were ineffective, which was frustrating as it was just after 1100, with checkout not being until 1200. The location is perfect, and although not a bad hotel, we wouldn't hurry to stay again.

A new, fresh and modern hotel with a Skandi design decor and feel. The rooms are well appointed, modern and provide for a comfortable nights rest. The hotel is well placed for a 30 second walk to Cambridge North Railway station where you can also get a bus to the city centre. Cambridge centre is about a 15-20 bus ride. The breakfast is amazing with. Really fresh well presented English and continental breakfast with lots of fruits, seeds, cereals and yogurt (amazing). I read the reviews about the breakfast being a little meehhh…. Not true; I can report that the breakfast was excellent food well presented. We didn’t try any evening meal so I cannot comment on that. The cons! Why only 3 stars? Water! It seems if water is involved then there is a problem. 1) showers in the rooms - are cold and very low pressure. When you need a good shower go and stand in the rain outside, you get more water and it’s warmer. 2) the “spa” - well the definition of a spa is somewhat overused here. The 15mtr ice cool pool and even cooler air temperature doesn’t make for a great atmosphere. The jacuzzi is a tiny sectioned off area of the pool, just as cool as the pool because it is open to the pool so you can swim in and the bubbles and jets can be easily be beaten by a well placed bottom trumpet. The so called sauna doesn’t have a door anymore so it wasn’t Avaliable for use. So the so called spa should be advertised as a 15mtr chill tank with a pitiful bubble bath at the end. Place also needs a good clean as it is somewhat grubby. I would suggest as an improvement the installation of a swinger spinnner, so your customers can dry their swim gear. IN CONCLUSION Nice hotel that needs some improvement and work on water related things.

It looks like quite a nice hotel but it isn't really. There's a gym and pool but the staff won't tell you about it when you check in. You'll walk through corridors past literally hundreds of rooms to get to it, only to find your key doesn't work because you had to ask for a specific one at reception. That wasn't mentioned on arrival. Breakfast has a similar issue - you'll realise there's no way of knowing the times it's open except going down to reception and asking. You get a big TV in your room but the reception is terrible and HDMI is disabled. Chromecast doesn't work. I don't know if that's connected to the awful WiFi speed. I watched the fight for the heavyweight championship of the world on my laptop, paying my mobile provider extra for enough data to watch in HD because the WiFi here couldn't hack it. The shower pressure is just about acceptable. The cleaning staff I spoke to on my way to the room were very nice and chatty. The other staff certainly weren't rude but seemed pretty disinterested. You don't get any information you don't directly ask for. Honestly, I wish I'd just stayed at Premier Inn in the city centre instead.

Nice rooms and good breakfast. Location next to station is excellent for a short break to cambridge, only one stop into the centre. However, when we checked in the reception staff gave us no information about the rooms/app/pool etc. A basic check in. We got to the room and the TV hotel information didn't say much other than download the app. We scanned the code given and nothing just a blank screen. So when trying to book room service or control the heat in the room forget it if you can't access the app. Went downstairs to ask and they just said order at the bar! takes away the idea somewhat of room service. No mention of why the app did not work or enquiry to help us resolve this. In the night it was 20 degrees to hot to sleep, so we had to open windows. Next day went to use pool which is long walk along corridors up and down stairs. Couldn't access with key card. So back to reception again as no notice on the door why, to our surprise it was oh you need a special card and need to sign this form, fine so why not tell us this at check in or in the room or on the lift wall? I advised reception about the room heat and she said oh I can control this back office again no mention of fixing this app issue. Staff overall smile but do not attempt to give any service at breakfast a there you are pointing at the resturant as you walk past. I see its a new hotel so I would urge the mangers to look into these issues as looking at reviews not just me saying it. They are easy fixes and will stop people having a less than happy experience.
