Hôtel The Porter House Sydney - MGallery 5 étoiles

I have to give two ratings, 5 for the Hotel but 1 for housekeeping so have settled on 4. Booking and communications was excellent and hotel advised in advance of a power outage during our three night stay. Outage did not affect us at all. Room very comfortable on level 3. Excellent beds and goose down pillows exceptional. Room was well fitted out, good hanging space, coffee maker etc. reception and staff contact during our stay was pleasant and professional. Five stars. Now for the really bad bit. Housekeeping was dreadful and not appropriate for a hotel of this level. On the first night we had to move a bed to access a power point but found a pile of fluff, fibres, and dust under the bed. On the second day we found the room had been serviced (beds made new towels etc) but two wine glasses we had used the night before had been put back in the drawer unwashed. They had sticky wine residue in them. New milk was not supplied and tea and coffee not renewed. Incidentally the tea bags supplied (Yukka!) were awful. On the third day we returned at 3:00pm to find the room hadn’t been serviced at all apart from supplying water, fruit and a torch for the power outage. No milk, tea, coffee, clean towels, glasses washed cups , no beds made. This is not acceptable in a five star hotel. We phoned reception and milk, tea and coffee were supplied later along with an offer to service the room. We were settling in after a busy day and said no to the full service. Housekeeping one star! This is not acceptable considering the prices paid and as I am a long term Accor member. When checking out we described our complaints but reception, while apologetic, asked if we had requested service as apparently this could be done with the room’s iPad. I didn’t think one should have to request service, and the quality of the first service was poor.p

This is a brilliant hotel! Fabulous “old school” touches evoke a wonderful charm that makes it feel like home. From sit down check in with well-trained, knowledgeable, efficient, friendly staff, to having a member of staff near the lift foyer to help with directions, bags, more smiles and friendliness, it quickly becomes apparent this hotel is doing things differently! As a platinum member, treated to room upgrade, welcome drinks, breakfast and welcome gift in room. Bar is excellent, although, restaurant closed Monday nights so didn’t get to try it. Rooms are well-appointed with excellent 5 star amenities and high tech. An iPad operates lights, air con, curtains, room service, DND options and entertainment. Wifi excellent. Able to effortlessly connect to Netflix, Prime and more. Nespresso machine, robes, slippers and pillow menu complete the luxury experience! Great location close to Hyde Park and a short walk to most locations. I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend you try it out!

I love MGallery Hotels in general - this location is fantastic! Some highlights: - Wonderful location, and beautiful architecture & development - Brilliant staff, Front Desk team, is super kind and helpful. - Wonderful F&B offering! Great work travel location. - The rooms are very confusing though, yet as an Accor Gold memeber I always get an upgrade to 1 category above my rate.; yet my upgrade room was still rather tight! Yet I loved the room as a solo traveller; the final touches of the room are great, the control panels etc - the room has fantastic tech + control panels, curtains, sheers, and automation including Chrome Cast available and with super fast internet! - The room has Sofitels, super comfy beds, and a fabulous pillow menu, and the bathroom is super beautiful with excellent water pressure and lovely 5 Star room touch. Not so great, but okays: - MGallery has an excellent design system to have a lobby cafe / typical breakfast space as a ‘separate restaurant’. They are lovely (however, the staff are all friendly and helpful, yet they are just far too stretchd and create substantial wait times) - teething issues are usual. But okay and not a deal-breaker, given the fantastic food and coffee. - needs a spa & Sauna “wellness” at this price point; it is not ideal; and should, at the very least, offer a sauna & steam for males & females; however, an outdoor pool is available if you wish to use it. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and I will be back; I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and highly recommended it for your next stay! I will be back soon! Thank you, team MGallery!

The Porter house has recently opened In the Sydney CBD, I’m so glad we booked it for our 11 night stay in Sydney. The room was very comfy, vital when you are staying for the length of time, very importantly the bed was very comfortable. Great I pad for controlling room facilities and tv. The breakfast in the hotel is a must. It’s a treat every day, the team in the breakfast room are very friendly and the food is incredible. The hotel has a rooftop pool which is great for cooling down in after a long hot day sightseeing. All sights are accessible from here as it’s a very short walk to the light rail station. The hotel has a coffee bar downstairs which has a great vibe, ideal for meeting friends as we did. Great coffee and once again lovely staff. They also do fabulous cocktails which are highly recommended. The guys who man the door are very helpful and are another great ambassador for this hotel. If all hotels were like the Porter House travel would be a more joyous experience. Well done to the management team for creating such a great atmosphere.

The hotel is sparkling clean and new. Supper supportive receptionists when I had a difficult in online payment system. The classic standard room is better than it was expected from the All Accor application which I booked for the Redhot night promotion. The room function and entertainment --All in your control in my hand when I was in supper comfy bed by using the tablet (controller), or you can connect the room with your personal device with All Accor application.
