Arrived home this morning after 3 nights at Ibis Styles Lisboa Centro Marques de Pompai. Perfect location for seeing the City. Friendly staff, clean rooms, no noise, great selection of food at breakfast including scrambled eggs and bacon, quite the opposite from some reviews I read before I went. But Raul at the bar definitely needs a holiday. Highly recommended.

Stayed for 4 nights with my chikdren, Spotless and very clean rooms, comfortable bed and a great location. The reception team were very friendly and offered excellent advice. The breakfast (which we had free as part of out rate) was very good.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A SNOBBISH HOTEL, STAY AWAY! I booked a room way in advance in January for a stay in April 2024. Though I was slightly aware of the event that the bank issuing the credit card I used to book the room was in the process of being acquired by another Canadian bank, I was not expecting my bank to stop my credit card by the end of March, 2024. This card happens to be my travel card with travel insurance provided. After a quick research on google and here on tripadvisor, I learn that some hotels in Europe may do another pre-authorization closer to the check-in date to make sure the card is still valid in case the hotel needs to charge a one night penalty for late cancellation or even no-show, though usually I chose refundable booking without any deposit or prepayment required. In this case, I believe it is wise to do some due diligence. So I emailed this hotel to advise that my credit card used for the reservation will be invalid after March 30 and enquired if they need me provide a new credit card to maintain or hold the reservation. In fact, one or two hotels being contacted already said no need a new card and just present a new valid credit card on check-in time. This hotel not just gives me no concession of any kind but insists me to provide photocopies of BOTH SIDES OF MY NEW CREDIT CARD & PASSPORT in addition to the credit card details, including the 3-digit CVV. I emailed back saying while I have no issues with providing credit card information over unsecured email delivery (which indeed poses some sort of security risks in my opinion, with the CVV.) as I kind of agreed that I caused the inconvenience of using a card which will become invalid though online a lot of people by mistake used a card with an expiry before the check in time as well, giving passport over email when it is not even required with ordinary booking (though again I am aware that they would need it on check-in). Guess what, they just ignored me, no reply of any kind saying yes or no. This not just leaves a very taste in my mouth but financially I suffer a lot as the prices have gone up after 2 months' time. Of course, if prices remain or close to the same as what I booked in January, needless to say, I would just rebook this hotel and cancel the one I booked before; or even better, find another hotel who wants my business with open arms. After all, it is not a short stay but 3 nights. Even if I need to dole out more money now, I rather pay another hotel which serves me as a real human being.

Hotel itself is in prime location and is excellent value. Is clean and room is fine. We were met friendly and provided all requests. So the first impressions are wonderful. However. It was infuriating stay. First night and morning everything was fine. But since evening of the second day someone absolutely insane moved to one of the rooms next to us. 9:30 pm. Our 7 year old is sleeping. Im dozing off my hub watching tv on volume 10. A call from reception.: there is a woman complaining there’s too much noise from your room. I asked receptionist if she hears the noise on the phone with me. She said no but the woman insists there is noise. I said that clearly not from our room This morning and our last day. Pretty much only day we had to sleep in late-8am i got woken up by a call from reception. Everyone else is sleeping. Again. Same woman complaining about the noise from our room. At this point i was fuming and said that we are all sleeping and the woman hears noises in her head clearly. So my question to the hotel is: Why is no one coming up to check first if there is a noise before waking guests up at 8am on Sunday especially if previously it was already clear that noise complain was made up (for whatever the crazy client that hears it wants to use it) and secondly why don’t they tell the crazy client that she is in town centre and it will be noisy and if she wants to be in absolute silence she should take tents to the woods. Generally this is the worst experience of guest care we have ever experienced in any country of the world we have been to. We felt we are being discriminated against and i am sure this is not how other hotels deal with noise complaints.

A bigger room proved to be a reasonable choice in this price category which is below the average in Lisbon even in Autumn. The breakfast room on the second floor offered food for all tastes - pancakes, fruit, bread, cold cuts and a variety of pastries. Dinner service would have been frozen ready made so I was happy to find an excellent and inexpensive Italian restaurant around the corner. An elegant white marble staircase by the elevators provided a quick route downstairs. The most convenient metro station is Parque where you can also reload your travelcard wih value by zapping. A normal meter taxi to the airport cost only 11 euros.
