A very good hotel in Sydney's CBD, right next to the Westfield Mall and the observation tower. The room was nice and spacious, and the view from the 23rd floor was sensational. You need to allow a little extra time here and there – at check-in and check-out (both times only staffed by one person), and with the elevators (there are many from the ground floor to the upper reception, but for the rooms you have to go to a different area. There are only three elevators there, one of which was permanently out of order during my stay). Breakfast is good, though not exactly award-winning. Overall, a rather upscale (though somewhat dated in places) hotel, not really suitable for holidays with children, more business style.

Give it a very BIG miss

Give it a miss. Went for the weekend and spent a lot of time waiting for an elevator. They have big problems running a smooth and efficient lift service for guests. Large hotel one elevator out of order other 2 very slow. Waited 10 minutes for the elevator. When it arrived it was crowed with space and people would not let us in. Stay away from the large busy hotel unless you have plenty of time to waste

Unfortunately, one of our guest elevators is currently being refurbished, which does place additional pressure on the remaining lifts during peak times. I completely understand how frustrating and inconvenient this would have been, especially when simply moving between floors should be quick and effortless. Excellent motel, service and food

Stayed here 1 night. Well from check in to check out everything went so smoothly. As we arrived early our room wasn't ready but they offered us breakfast in the club lounge. The waitress was lovely and got us a coffee and there was a good variety of cold / hot food to choose from. In the afternoon we had complimentary canapees and drinks in the club lounge. There was so much choice for the alcohol selection. I only had a light beer, but there was lots of different spirits and wines available. Yummy cheeses, delicious anti pasta type olives, grilled zucchini, cold meats, caesar salad, dips, delicious bread sticks and biscuits. Also a selection of fruits. The food was being topped up immediately when it got low. There was even a fridge with complimentary ginger beer, San Pellegrino mineral water and other non-alcoholic choices. They had live music playing in the bar / restaurant on the 8th floor and a complimentary drink offered to us. Would recommend this motel when you need a place in the city as its in Market Street close to Town Hall, Westfield shops, QVB, the light rail and so many good restaurants.

Hotel can do better

Stayed here for a business trip. The stay was underwhelming and below expectations. Toilet had no basic amenities like toothbrush and toothpaste. The shower gel was not topped up and I had to get out of the shower to call housekeeping to get them to replace the bottle. Room was small and bumped into the cabinet as the bed and the cabinet was close to each other. Lifts took a long time to come and that could be due to the fact that the hotel was operating only two lifts as one of the 3 lifts is being refurbished.

Pleasant But Maybe Forgettable

We chose this as we had stayed at 6 or 7 other 5 Star hotels in Sydney and we wanted to compare. 5 Star hotels in Sydney are patchy to be fair but we do love the place. We arrived at the downstairs lobby but weren't too sure where to go as there were no signs to direct you. The lobby was a bit grubby and the woman on duty was receiving an order from a delivery guy. She was also eating takeaway food out the back office and when she came out she was stuffing her face pretty good and you could smell the fried food. All good, we figured out ourselves how to get to the reception upstairs. Its a weird arrangement to be honest but hey, open minds and all that. Reception was good. They didnt tell us how to find the elevators to our room though but we figured it out. We had booked a Club Suite for three nights. Nice clean room! Comfy bed. The airconditioning broke down though and we had workmen in our room for two days trying to figure it all out. Gym was ok, pool was excellent. I swam here everyday. The spa was no more - they stripped it completely the day we arrived. Club Lounge was excellent. Great staff, food ok too! Checking out there was a queue so we threw the keycards in the Express Checkout and left. Always feels funny when you don't get the warm welcome on arrival nor a friendly farewell. Perfunctory I guess. Take aways? Overall its a good hotel. Room was great (despite the overheating). Good linen. Odd shower - the water went straight out the door as that where the shower head points -its unavoidable. Service mostly good. Would I stay here again? Hmmm unsure. Kimpton Margot is better in my view but this one is markedly better than Marriot and Amora. I think Sydney still has a looooooooong way to go to get to European or Asian Five Star levels though.
