A great night’s sleep

I had a great experience at this hotel. Two nights of lovely sleep on a comfortable mattress. Provides modern charging facilities and had very friendly and patient staff. You felt welcome the moment you went in the doors. Would definitely recommend and will definitely stay here in future when in Sydney.

Work trip stay

Stayed 3 nights for a work conference. Great things is location. Wynard train station is right there so if travelling from airport very easy! Most things only 10 minute walk. Room, basics for what you need, can get a bit noisy as well. I was on 12th floor. I had to drop stars as unfortunately, as last day of housekeeping I returned to my room 6pm, it looked like they done half of it and forgot other half. Toilet paper was not refilled it, tissue box empty was not refilled, dirty cup/plate spoon left, rubbish plastic left near toilet seat. So was very surprised considering day before no issues. I called reception and let them know so lucky upon returning back from dinner, toilet paper was replenished. Had some issues on check out regarding surcharges but was sorted swiftly with front staff. Good stay if travelling for work and noticed lots were like myself.

Our Worst Accor Experience.

Good location, but very poor value for money. The rooms are tiny and feel claustrophobic. This was our worst experience with Accor, despite being loyal customers for years around the world. We had a leak in the room, reported it four times, and it was never fixed during our three-night stay. We had to use our towels to stop the water going into the air-conditioning system, then chase housekeeping for fresh ones. Staff were consistently rude and difficult to understand, and made us feel like an inconvenience, telling us to use the self-service machines when we tried to check in and out. The food was also terrible.

I stayed at the Novotel Sydney City Centre on the night of 2 September 2025 while in Sydney for a work trip. On 3 September, after departing the hotel to return to Canberra, my vehicle displayed an alert indicating a fault with the driving assistance system. Later that afternoon, when I stopped to charge at Ampol Pheasants Nest Southbound, the charging port would not open. A mechanic attended the vehicle and advised that it would need to be towed. The following day, I was informed that a rat had entered the car through the rear wheel well and chewed the internal wiring, causing the electrical fault. My vehicle had been parked in the underground carpark at the Novotel Sydney City Centre for the entire duration of my stay. On a previous trip to Sydney earlier this year, I had observed several rats in the same carpark. I find this situation completely unacceptable for a hotel that is advertised as a four-star establishment. Guests should be able to park their vehicles safely without risk of damage caused by vermin infestations within the hotel’s carpark.

Reliable and convenient place to stay in the heart of Sydney

I have been staying at the Novotel Sydney City Centre every couple of months or so and find it to be a consistently comfortable and convenient option. The rooms are clean and fairly well-maintained, though noise can be an issue on the lower floors (especially between 4th and 7th floors). If you're a light sleeper, do yourself a favour and request a room on the 8th floor or higher. The location is hard to beat — right across from Wynyard Station, with a small convenience store just steps away. It’s an easy five-minute walk to The Rocks and Circular Quay, which makes it ideal for both business and leisure. The self-serve check-in system works most of the time, though it occasionally struggles to locate reservations. I do miss the human touch at reception, but overall the process is fairly smooth. One thing to skip: the hotel breakfast. At around $35, it’s overpriced and underwhelming. Instead, try heading across the road to Café Portico — a great little spot with good coffee, tasty food, and quick service. I’ve only ever used public transport, so I can’t comment on parking costs, but I do know my friend’s Toyota Prado (without roof racks) fits in the carpark, which I believe has a 2.0m or 2.1m clearance. All in all, it’s a solid, cost-effective place to stay in central Sydney — a definite step up from when it was under the Travelodge brand.
