I spent 3 nights with my family in 2 seperate rooms. We were happy to be greeted by a Turkish receptionist who was very kind an upgraded one of our rooms. The hotel is right next to Dam Square. Breakfast was adequate. Though some hotels don’t charge children to a certain age, we had to pay half price for each child. The room was standard, a bit dull, overlooking the inner alley. For some reason one of our rooms had carpet flooring and the other did not. Heater in the bathroom didn’t work and I messaged through the hotel application about the problem but nothing was done. Central heating of the room was very loud and not so effective. Housekeeping only tidied up the bed and changed towels. They didn’t see my refill request note of toiletries which I had left a clear and visible note. This shows that the bathtub was not even cleaned and it was clearly visible that the floor was not cleaned either. Even making a request for toiletries at the reception didn’t solve this minor problem. Such small mistakes damage the brand image and this hotel is nothing like the 7 Swissotels in Turkey. Besides its perfect location, nothing was special.

Well located hotel

We spent two nights at Swissotel in Amsterdam. The hotel is very well located near the train station and restaurants and shopping. We were able to walk to the Van Gogh Museum and the Anne Frank Museum. The room was adequate size for Amsterdam. The bathroom was nice with a big bathtub. My only complaint is that the soap, shampoo, etc are attached to the shower stall, but you can’t take a shower because the glass door is so small, water splashes on the floor. To take a bath, you have to stand to access the soap, shampoo, etc. Otherwise, the staff at reception were super friendly. They stored our bags without charge.

The location of the hotel was right and the junior suite was big for three adults but that's where the good points ended. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a very grumpy and rude old man, he argued with us about things, talked over us and made us feel very unwelcome. The sockets in the room did not work and/or did not work at the same time, the toilet smelled of old pee and the staff (except the cleaners) were really unprofessional in their behavior. The room did not respond to greetings when we came to the reception / in the morning or in the elevator. The breakfast did not meet our expectations and the room was not as quiet as the page suggested when we booked.

Most terrible experience I’ve a this hotel

Unfortunately this hotel staff have ruined my vacation! Most terrible way of handling customers, especially Mr Edwardo who unfortunately checked me in. I paid for a premium room, which was very expensive and supposedly with a city view, also it’s somehow bigger than a standard room. Upon my arrival after a very long trip, he took ages to check me in and put me in the smallest room ever that could hardly fit the bed with a zero view! I went back to him telling him this is not a premium room that I have paid for, he defied me and tried to convince me that it is! When I instated he said actually we have no more premium rooms or any room with a view. Then I acted very furiously and told him this is not my business, he made me wait for another 45 minutes pretending that he’s trying to find me a better room. When I was taken to the other room, which had a mediocre view but really bigger, he said I had to upgrade your room; which is a big lie. He treated me very arrogantly and in such a very rude way, as if he’s made me a favour. Then cleaning is another terrible thing in this hotel. By mistake something fell on the floor on my first day, behind a chair, I stayed for 4 nights and guess what that thing was still in its place! So they don’t even vacuume the rooms! Right before my departure I went down to the front desk telling them to prepare for my check out; all of my personal belongings were still in the room; when I went up, I found the house keeping in my room, though I had the ‘dint disturb sign’ on !! They claimed they thought I’d left; but even though how come when they saw all my belongings in the room.. why did they stay in it? It asked me to book me a cab to the airport , they told me that it’s for 67.50 Euros I told them but Bolt and Auber is only for 51€ they said because those cabs cannot park in front of the hotel and then you have to take all your a luggage to the next street which is quite far, but our cabs are allowed to park here and take your luggage. I believed them and did so, to my surprise the driver told me that it’s not allowed to park there but he takes the risk of getting a fine ! Liars again. The he cherry on top of the cake is the city tax which was 110€ for the 4 nights😱 Honestly the one good thing about this hotel is its location otherwise I’d advise you to avoid it totally.

Excellent hotel right in the heart of Dam Square. Literally walking distance from the main Amsterdam Central train station, making it super easy to travel around and from the airport. The hotel is located in the middle of the Main Street, with easy access to all excursions/pick-up/drop and opposite the luxury shopping centre. Its location is the best you can find in Amsterdam, walkable distance to almost everything around. Special shoutout to Mr. Rob (head concierge) who made us feel right at home and offered excellent hospitality throughout our stay of 3 nights. Highly recommended for first time travellers!
