Hotel was nice but room service was awful... We asked drink room service brought the dirink and asked to pay in cash, when we said we would pay while check out, he came back 10 minutes later disturbing and he asked to sign the bill, I warned that was not proper... After a while we ordered another drink he brought the drink and he said he forgot the pen and came back again disturbing us to sign the bill like a joke...

Hotels Mercure One around the world usually offer great service but this one is not the case. Staff is not very friendly, the internet connection is mediocre; and considering the alternatives available for accommodation in Istanbul, the place is overpriced. The location is not bad as such and it has a very nice and friendly cafe riggt infront. Other than that it is not a great place to stay.

I arrived to hotel, got a room key, entered a room where heating radiators leaked. The carpet was wet and smelled of damp. Nobody checked a room before giving it to me! Is this how you treat platinum members? Wi-Fi was a disaster. I visited Istanbul for 12 hrs only and booked this hotel to attend some online meetings. Due to low Internet speed (<1 mbit/s) I had to go shopping and buy local sim cards at 9am! 2 shops did not manage to register a new sim card due to issues with the registration website. So I had to use my foreign sim card data in Roaming during several hrs of video meetings. Internet speed from my sim card was 40 Mbit/s (in the same room where Wi-Fi was 1 Mbit/s). The check in receptionist did not allow me to pay the room next day (I wanted to exchange foreign currency next day and pay in cash).

The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance to a major Metro Station (10 minutes walk). First part of my visit was a business with the last part being for holidays. The service by the staff was consistent and helpful when required. This was particularly evident when it was necessary to move rooms which was done without hesitation by the front service staff. I would recommend the hotel to those who wish to be within the city precincts with easy access to the old city via the Metro. The rooms were above average and were cleaned daily with replacement towels and amenities provided, as required. The only hesitation I would put forward is the size of the elevators (being 2 in total and accommodating 5 to 6 persons maximum, being less if patrons had bags) and the difficulty in accessing them during peak periods. However, this was a small inconvenience. As I indicated above, I would recommend this hotel for the reasons stated.

There was no complimentary water and tea bags available for the nights I stayed. Once I complained the night shift manager was there by accident and offered me a fruit basket to apologize and made me forget about the negative effect of it. When the first morning I went to breakfast, the manager in charge said I had to pay for it as I booked without breakfast which was not true. Good that I had booking mail ready with me. Although he said it in a very nice way I was a kind of disturbed and disappointed. Then again once he saw the booking mail he was very nice to me to win my heart which he did.
