Very dirty rooms and highly disappointed as the rooms and floors filled with smoking cigarette smell even though we speicficlaly requested for non smoking and clean rooms few weeks before arrival as we travelled with young children. The reception was dismissive of these requested and informed us they upgraded us to a room with washing machine which was on the smoking floor and the room was filthy and disgusting.

When it was branded as 5 star I have expected more than what I personally experienced. Lobby is uncomfortably hot, you will see it from receptionist sweating a lot. Front Office needs to work on there 5star way approach. No one even bothered to greet as you enter the hotel. There was no value on the way they deal with guest; they are disengaged and lacking on warmth. They don’t greet nor smile or look honestly when they speak. I have asked for parking so my family can park first but no one even bothered to informed that you need the key first so they need to return back. Such as hassle. The front desk staff need to adopt a more welcoming approach; no one greeted us upon arrival. From the moment that 2nd room get delayed even though it’s already 4:00pm. To be fair, we have requested for 1 twin bed and 1 double bed adjacent as much as possible. While i personally get that it is subject to availability so we didn’t insist much. We already compromise that ok we are willing to go for 2 double bed and a separate floor, just to finish a check in which I personally believe very slow. Receptionist not even bothered to take you from the queue when there was no guest already on their queue. Feels like they are not willing to assist. Just to a surprise the guy who checked me in will arranged rooms on the same floor but still 2 double and I was like ok. thank you for the effort. But there is a hitch, I need to wait for the 2nd room; so I waited and patiently sit. I myself has offered that I will have a sit and waited for the 2nd room, it was not even offered. Welcome drinks while waiting was not even served. I waited for another 15 mins or more sitting in the lobby. You need to come and approach the desk as they will not even come to you to give the 2nd room key. I expected a lot since I already waited and compromised and to be fair I was very low key and undemanding as I truly understand working in hospitality, to be surprised that room is in mezzanine floor facing the road. Check in for them is like giving the room key only. Not even discussing your stay your booking and how your stay can be more enjoyable. Facilities nor when you need to go for your breakfast and timing. Not even directing you to the lift. Just blindly gave the key. The moment when I asked if the room I was allocated is good and receptionist inform a word “but” I knew that there will be cons on it. The one also who did the check out not even had a word to greet while your approaching for check out. You need by yourself inform that you are there for check out and didn’t even how’s our been. Not even courtesy call after you checked in. While I gave benefit of the doubt that it can be busy operation I have high hopes for reception, they should be the no1. Room is clean; room attendant specially the Filipinos on the floor greeted us and atleast we felt welcome. My only concern is until the most basic amenities are upon request, coffee, slippers, hairdryer and dental kit are things we requested because it is not on the room. When I check why it’s is like that they informed that it is upon request. As I was so shy to ask and request from time to time because I will only realized something is missing after I already requested a thing. But all of this are placed on the other room, so we are confused. Room is comfortable and eclectic, the idea of open cabinet and separate sink basin is brilliant for me. The F&B whole gave our room service atleast was someone who knows to add value as 5star. He knows well to communicate. The chef also in the breakfast egg station also is commendable; even if I see that he is very busy he remain cordial and professional as I see him dealt with a very annoying and ungrateful guest beside me on that day. Breakfast choices and selection is the worst I’ve been in any 4 and 5 star, locally and internationally. The pool was not the best I’ve seen but we enjoyed the moment specially a solemn sunset. Same as the fountain in the pool area on ground floor. We felt like we are kid again. WiFi is very slow for a hotel in Dubai. It is a special moment for us as this is the last day of our sister flying back to our country and we just thought it will be a very nice experience. Still from our end we made it special by ourselves. A lot of potential hotel and missed opportunity. I am not a person who give a negative review and very generous in giving positive remark. I will rather try to check in in other 5star than to give another try. I’m giving 2 because it’s in the grid of 5 star.

My stay at the Grand Mercure Dubai was exceptional in every way. From the moment I arrived, the concierge greeted me with a warm smile, and Mr. Mohamed Mabrouk at reception assisted me with great professionalism. I was given a beautiful room with a stunning view, which added a special touch to my experience. I stayed for two days, and this was by far the best business trip I've had this year. Everyone was kind and welcoming, from the reception staff to the Lebanese gentleman in room service, and the lady in the red. Every member of the team was friendly and attentive to every detail, making my stay truly memorable. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return on my next visits!

The Worst Stay and Not 5 Star at all

The moment we entered the hotel we felt that this is not what it portrayed. No 5 star hotel at all, we had to wait in the lobby for everything, the lobby was warm like no ac at all, we arrived around noon, no one assisted with luggage we had to bring it on our own, room was not ready and we were asked to wait, nothing was offered even a drink to sip on whilst waiting. We were given a room with cigarette smell when we specifically asked for non smoking room what a disgrace, we asked to exchange rooms and it took forever to happen till we went downstairs and meet the manager on duty whom didn’t help much, we were given someone to escort us to our room seriously as the so called hotel had no keys and key pockets to be used were half cut envelopes. Our hotel stay was a disgrace and we ended up staying 2 nights instead of 1 week intended. I will never come to this hotel again and will not recommend such poor management for such a lovely building well designed.
