My mother and I recently stayed at the Mercure London Hyde Park, though we tried to check in at the Mercure Paddington -- we had no idea there were two Mercure Hotels so close together! The staff was wonderful, they took our bags and walked us right over to the correct location. Our hotel was lovely. The staff was very helpful, the lobby was clean and very tastefully decorated. Our room was perfect, and the amenities were generous. The location was our reason for choosing this hotel, and we were not disappointed. We easily walked to and from the Paddington Train Station with our luggage. We walked to Kensington Gardens and Kensington Palace. The hotel was near bus stops and the Hop on Hop off Bus stop. The neighborhood was clean and quiet but still near restaurants and shops. Overall, it was the perfect place for us to stay while in London.

Good placement, close to Paddington station so it was easy to get around the city. Close to Hyde Park and green areas. We chosed a superior room for ekstra comfort like Window, refrigerator, sound proof room and ekstra comfy bed. The bed was comfortable but squeaky, and the pillows were quite warn and lumpy. We had a window, but right in front of our window was the air-conditioning, so over half of the window was covered so hardly any light came in through the window. we could hear the air-conditioning in our room 24/7 The pigeons nestet outside of our window, so the whole area was covered in pigeon droppings. When we opened the window the pigeons also came in through the window. The room appeared a little worn, the lampshade was dented and had clearly seen some action. The cupboard was coming apart. The carpet was stained and stiff of dirt, so our socks got grey and dirty when we were in the room. Our room were right next to the elevator, and our headboard was facing the wall with the elevator on the other side. We could hear it go up and down, and the beep from the buttons day and night. Though the room was supposed to be soundproof, we could also hear the upstairs neighbours turning and getting out of the bed and slamming the bathroom door at night. The "Do not disturbed" indication lights were so bright, it illuminated the room at night. Three out of five days, our key cards didn't work and we had to get them recoded. Somehow they got erased/reset. We were told not to keep the key cards next to our credit cards or mobiles, even though the cards were not working after lying on a table the whole night. If I can't keep the card in a wallet or pocket, where do I keep it then? In conjunction with the hotel, there is a restaurant that offers hotel guests prepaid breakfast. But they seemed to prioritise guests from the street a little higher than the ones from the hotel. One morning we got moved to another table in the middle of our breakfast, to make room for other guests in the restaurant.

Wonderful friendly helpful staff, great location, well appointed rooms (we missed out on our usual Junior suite but the Executive King was good if just a bit small!). Breakfast included a big plus too & very good.
