First time staying in a Mama Shelter and it ROCKED. All staff either on reception or at the bar were fantastic and I loved the entire aesthetic to the hotel. The room was very unique looking and comfortable with a great bathroom and comfy bed. The selection on the TV was particularly excellent, we enjoyed an evening viewing of Big Hero Six. The bar/lobby was also cool and inviting and I enjoyed relaxing there with a few beverages. Location is great for the Jean Mace Metro station as well which gets you anywhere you need to go on Lyon. I'm in a Mama Shelter again in April and now I'm extremely excited to experience this brand a second time.

Good city centre hotel. The bar is excellent, reasonably priced, and full of locals & guests. Rooms are functional and comfortable but of spartan design. Breakfast is v good. Well located for public transport. Would stay here again.

This hotel has a funky fun bar with friendly staff. It has a restaurant with excellent food and a great breakfast, especially the juicer (scrambled eggs and mushrooms were cold the second time though). It is let down by the rooms which are really very average and the little welcome notes, although sweet, do not change this. Bed is comfy though. My room (606)?was pretty much a disaster as it had the smell of sewage coming through from what I could gather the second sink. I mentioned this three or four times. They said they put some product in there but that didn’t help. If you kept your window open it was better and the last night the smell was so bad I had to keep my window open all night. I did ask if I could have some compensation- they would have offered free parking but I didn’t have a car, and that was it. A little gesture could have made a big difference… you would expect better when you pay over 200 euros a night. Also, Accor silver/gold/platinum members note: no welcome drink, instead an extra bottle of water and two cookies…

High quality in the right places, at a very good price

You will know from the other reviews that this is a hotel which is aimed at a young/party demographic. I fairness, there was a pretty wide range of ages staying but it definitely attracts and suits a younger crowd. We paid about Eur170 for a twin room, breakfast and parking on a Saturday night. It was less than half what we would have paid at the upscale Accor properties in the city centre (M Gallery, Sofitel). What impressed me most is that 'money is spent' on all the right things. The quality of the breakfast was fantastic (fresh juicing machine, eggs to order, and all the branded items were to quality ones). The bed linens were very comfortable and felt high-end. Food in the restaurant was very good and so on. What else impressed: - the staff were charming and fun. Great team - the wifi is off the scale (500mbps) - it was 35c in Lyon and the air-conditioning was 'US powerful'. Rarely the case in France. - I liked the minimal, bare concrete decor. It will age well. To improve/consider: - the rooms are tiny. This isn't somewhere to spend time in your room. - by packing in the rooms to achieve a certain pricing possibility, there doesn't seem to have been much space left over for anything else. Lots of dirty linen stored in hallways, no gym, nowhere to lounge (other than sitting at a table in the dining room) - we wanted to be in the 7e for my son's university, but the location isn't central for sightseeing. No more than 10 mins walk off, but not central. - the car park is a nightmare to navigate. I rented an estate car and had to be very very careful. I would stay at a Mama Shelter again. Better than Marriott's new Moxy brand (which looks like a brothel version of a Premier Inn), and I find Ws to be a bit irritating (and way more expensive). Great concept if this fits your need and mood.

Material stolen in our room by house personell without hotel reaction !!

Private material was stolen in our room !! Reaction from the hotel : sorry, but we don't take responsability . You should have warned us when there is private material in your room. Can you imagine ?

We are saddened to read your feedback, which does not accurately reflect the situation. Indeed, during the cleaning of your room throughout your stay, our housekeeping staff followed our standard internal cleaning and hygiene procedures, including changing the pillowcases. Unfortunately, the original hotel pillowcases had been replaced by your personal ones, and both designs bore a strong resemblance. Consequently, your linens were sent to our laundry partner along with the hotel's linens for cleaning. As soon as we were made aware of the situation, we promptly notified our supplier to differentiate your linens from the hotel's. Unfortunately, due to the striking similarities with your pillowcases, the search is still ongoing as of today. We will uphold our promise to keep you informed as soon as they are identified and can be returned. We thank you for your understanding.
