Send the email to hotel to request quiet room but never got replied. Music play until 2 am. Music is too loud, and bass shakes the room... Water in refrigerator was opened and used... disgusting!! Only provide 1 small tiny soap, no body wash or shampoo? stayed here for 3 nights and they didn't give me new soap after housekeeping? Terrible stay!!

We booked this hotel for a few nights before our California coastal cruise. It was a great location for us exploring some of the key tourist attractions such as Universal studios, Hollywood boulevard, tour bus pick up point etc . Staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't manage to enjoy the roof bar but seemed popular. Some of the decor was quirky (e.g animation lamps) and some cool things on offer to buy in reception.

Was staying next door in the Tommie Hollywood and discovered this when walking by. Fantastic food, a great roof top bar / restaurant and awesome LA vibe. Came here every day afterwards and would highly recommend it. Also a hotel, so will be staying here next time I visit 🫶

Cute hotel but location feels seedy

I've stayed at Mama Shelter a couple of times now, the last being around 6 years ago - although it has definitely dated since then it's still a great little hotel in Hollywood. Bed and pillows are super comfortable, bathroom and shower are great, and the TV is pretty comprehensive - there's a Chromecast option if that's your thing. My room was on the fifth floor just below the bar and I didn't think it was too noisy; granted, it was a Monday night and I was super tired. I don't know that I'd rush to stay later in the week or on the weekend due to the potential for noise. It's a bit odd that the bar downstairs isn't open earlier in the week. The main reason I wouldn't stay here again is the area - Hollywood was always a bit seedy but it feels way more unsafe and unclean now than it even did a few years ago. As a solo woman I couldn't get off Hollywood Blvd and back to the hotel fast enough.

A nice decor, but over-priced and the noise is an issue

The staff at the reception is really nice and helpful. The roof- top bar is super with beautiful views over Hollywood. The breakfast is good but highly overpriced. For Californian breakfast I had to pay 23 dollars, and when I wanted a glass of orange juice, I had to pay five extra dollars for it. The tip is included in the breakfast bill, so you don't need to leave any extra tip if you don't want to. The noise in the hotel until midnight is also an issue in Mama Shelter Los Angeles. I don't think it's a good idea to combine a club and a hotel, or the club should be in the separate building far away from hotel rooms. One night I wanted to read in the room, but it was impossible because of the disco music. The music lasts until midnight. A good hotel for young adults who want to go clubbing, but not for middle- aged people who would like to have a good night' s sleep. The decor in the hotel is, however, pleasing to the eye.
