My husband and I booked a last minute stay at this resort after staying at Green Bay resort in the north of the island for a week. We lucked out with a villa and private pool. We also opted for the all inclusive package which appeared to bea reasonable price as opposed to paying for everything extra. The accommodations were quite nice and we loved the quietness and privateness of having our own space. We tend to go to adults only resorts but Phu Quoc does not appear to have any. The resort was full of families and lots of children so we were thankful to have our own quiet space. The food at the restaurants was decent, although breakfast tended to be chaotic and super busy as this appeared to be included for all guests. Lunch and dinner were a bit quieter. This resort really does not have a lot going on at night. The bar seemed deserted. There was a small band playing one night and other then that (and this was the most anoying part) there seemed to be a reportoire of 12 or 15 songs of music played in the main buffet restaurant and lobby area……if I never hear Abba’s Chiquitita again, that would be just fine! Language barrier was a huge problem. Some of the servers seemed overworked and undertrained. We utilized the spa twice and enjoyed the treatments. We would not return to this resort seeing its not really a five star experience we had.

Not bad, but will not come back for sure.

Overall resort experience is good. But there are some small things that doesn’t make us feel here as in a five star hotel. As long as our flight back home is in evening, and check out as usual at 12, we’d decided to stay at the beach until the time to go to the airport. Surprisingly this is the first 5 star hotel that doesn’t provide the free shower, and asked 200.000V per person. Also, every time the right amount of towels to change is always a problem. We are 4 people in a room, but always get only two bath towels, which is not really comfortable. The kids zone (kids club) is poorly equipped and boring. Traveling with kids for more then 10 years every summer and winter holidays we’ve never faced these problems in Marriott, Shangri-La, Hyatt and other nice hotels. On the other hand the restaurant staff, the beach staff were helpful and nice. The swimming pools and the seashore are clean. The jym looks nice, also a quite big amount of bicycles to enjoy the ride. But the thing with the shower really took on our nerves, so if we’ll be back to PhoQuoc it’s surely be another hotel.

Staff look stressed, no management support / intervention!

Had a 5 night stay, 2 nights at Bungalow and 3 nights at sea facing room. Not sure whether it was due to xmas / ne year time but could see that staff is loaded with work. I got the daily room cleaning at done at 6 PM in evening after repeated requests. I mailed this to relevant officer but no response. Otherwise, the location is good and the facilities, beach, pool, restaurant is awesome.

During our stay, the following events occurred. On 25th December, after having spent the day on the beach by the hotel and having dinner at the beach restaurant in Novotel property my husband (Pavlin Todorov) fell ill with severe vomiting and diarrhoea. He spent the whole night in the bathroom and in the morning a medical professional from the hotel attended our room and prescribed him medicines to stop the vomiting and the diarrhoea. The hotel also had to change our bedsheets due to the state he was in. He has still not recovered and has not been able to consume any food, other than some tea/ stock and small amounts of toasted bread. On our last evening, we had dinner in the main restaurant of the hotel. Pavlin was not able to eat anything so he only ordered a soup which he didn’t finish. I ordered the  buffet menu and ate some turkey meat, sushi and mussels. Soon after we went to bed that evening I fell ill. I was vomiting violently and had diarrhoea. In the morning we called for the medical staff to come to our room and to recommend medicines to stop the diarrhoea and vomiting. I was prescribed the same medicines as my husband had been prescribed. The medicines I was given did not help me as they didn’t stop the vomiting and the medical staff had to return a second time that morning to give me something else. It was a horrible day for me as I was incredibly  unwell and we had to fly back to Hanoi. The whole time at the airport/ plane I felt unwell and incredibly nauseous. It has been two days since we are back and we are still unwell and have not been able to keep food down and have low energy. We are very disappointed that our Christmas gateway resulted in both of us getting sick and in a total nightmare overall. We chose the Novotel because we believed that it not only has modern and luxurious facilities but it also implements an adequate level of hygiene in food handling and preparation. This is obviously not the case. We expect to receive compensation for our stay by way of a full refund. We should not be required to pay for a holiday stay that impacts our health in such a horrendous stay. Please provide a response as soon as possible. We look forward to hearing from you.

Excellent hotel,food staff,drinks all very good. Only 1 thing that needs improvement. Bar staff management and training. If you want drinks quickly or service quickly this isn’t going to happen. The hotel seems to run a crazy duplicated system where a cashier stands and makes up the bills. Everyone looks busy doing nothing while all guests seem to wait forever on drinks and service. Needs to be brought into 21st century. Access to beach is fantastic and pool is also very good. I would stay here again but would like to see improvement
