Construction surrounding the pool area not advertised by the hotel affecting stay

There are very large construction works on properties immediately surrounding the pool area. This significantly affected our experience. We were not made aware of the construction around the pool area when we made the booking. There were several other issues specific to our stay that I have tried to discuss with the hotel but have been connected with an AI assistant which is very frustrating and disappointing. If someone more senior from the hotel could please contact me that would be appreciated.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour. We travelled all the way from the Gold Coast to celebrate a very special occasion, and what happened to us was completely unacceptable. First, our room was charged twice. We had already paid through Booking.com, yet Sofitel deducted nearly $1800 again from our bank account upon arrival. Because of this error, I was left with no money in my account during a trip that we had planned for a long time. When we spoke to reception and management, they told us we would have to wait 5–6 business days to get our own money back. How is this fair to the guest when it was Sofitel’s mistake? We were left stressed and unable to enjoy our stay because the hotel had taken the payment twice and held our funds. Second, we booked a Luxury Corner Room with high expectations, especially for the celebration. But instead of a Harbour View, we were given a city view, even though we clearly expected a Harbour View for a birthday celebration. When we requested help, the only response we got was that the Harbour View rooms were “fully committed.” On top of everything, the hotel only offered $100 as a gesture after causing such a huge financial inconvenience. $100 does not fix being out of pocket by $1800 during a holiday trip.

Another awesome experience at this fabulous hotel. The standards are second to none and the service is amazing. Everything from the room to the Club Millesime Longe was perfect. Many thanks to the hotel Manager Robert and the all the management in the lounge who made our stay so special. A special shout out to Wayne, Anna, Philip and Grace and many others who truly give outstanding service. It’s the team at this hotel that makes it such a nice place to visit. We can’t wait for out next visit and thank you so much for an exceptional stay.

Nothing but the average 4 star hotel

A 4 star hotel, that wants to be a 5 star, but lacks the notch. Rooms are nice, but way to many categories, with almost no difference. Maybe the view was good, but now you look on to a constructionsite, and with the pool on the lower levels, its a disaster. No welcoming in the room. They have skipped out on waterbottles at the room, calling it «environmental strategy», but you can buy the waterbottles from the minibar in the same room. Balmain bathroomamenities was good, but cleaning could be better. Used one day lenses were still at my nightstand from last occupant. The food from atelier was tasty and came fast! Fantastic kitchen! The lack at the resturant are in the follow up from rest of the crew. Breakfast was small, but ok, nothing more than expected. Juices was canned, not fresh, and the orange tasted like the cheapest one you get at the supermarket.

The Sofitel darling harbour is a 10/10 and that’s not an over exaggeration. My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed at all. From the moment we stepped foot into this establishment we felt the luxury of what the Sofitel is. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Although we did have to wait an hour for our room the wait was worth it. We booked a corner room with a view to die for. Watching the sunset and seeing the city light up from the 23rd floor was ultimately the highlight of our stay. Now the room we were happy to wait an hour for was simple and elegant but once we moved the door to the bath room our mouths dropped. Ceiling to floor windows show casing darling harbour and city I was lost for words. I will say it’s shame the fireworks were not on this particular weekend that would have been a show worth watching from the bath tub. Room service was on point and I would highly recommend. We could have had dinner downstairs but we wanted to enjoy the room and the view. Now the food was highly priced but being a luxury hotel well worth it. The food was amazing we ordered once that evening and twice the next morning for breakfast. Being on the 23rd floor our food was still hot and enjoyable. Something most hotels seem to fail to accomplish but not the Sofitel 100% successful. Overall the hotel deserves being a 5star establishment. So if your willing to spend that little bit extra to get an amazing memorable experience I highly recommend staying here close to everything walking distance to many things to see and do or just sit back, relax and enjoy the hotel’s facilities up to you. Can’t wait to go back again.
