Review We stayed here as part of a luxury escapes package. Let me start by saying we wanted to love this hotel but ultimately were bitterly disappointed, so much so that we cut short our planned 14 night stay to 5. The hotel itself is nice but not what we have come to expect in Thailand. The entry is vast (a huge expanse of white marble) which actually makes the place feel sterile and unwelcoming. The grounds are green but not lush. All minor details but so much of the charm and tropical feel was missing. Facilities were good for children however many things were in disrepair. Bikes for hire were falling apart, in most cases dangerously so with broken pedals, flat tyres etc. Despite the high price to stay, most activities were at extra charge which also felt unreasonable. A ten minute drive to watch bats, whilst pleasant, cost $120AUD for four people! The ‘beach’ is not a beach rather a stone wall and the small section of sand accessible to the ocean wasn’t great. App it was unusual high tides but we were also told not to swim due to jellyfish. The spa was lovely - the service, the treatment and the venue. We had half board included and food was by and large quite good, especially Thai food as one would expect. Service however was inconsistent and at times terrible. We struggled to explain to staff what was included as part of our package (often to multiple staff each time). This was awkward and made us feel uncomfortable. Meal service initially was also all over the shop - at our first lunch I had my main and entree delivered at the same time but other guests in our group of 5 receive theirs until after I had finished both meals! Staff were generally ok, some better than others, but we didn’t really feel welcome. Having travelled to Thailand well over 20 times, we missed the friendliness and laughter we usually experience with staff and have come to enjoy. Accommodation was a one bedroom pool villa and a studio room near the obstacle course pool. Both were nice however the pool villa was not private with only a thin hedge separating between other villas and an entry which didn’t close. Proper fencing would make a world of difference! We also had a guest next door who we understand was filming drone content for the hotel which loudly flew over the top of our villa and crash landed inside our outdoor area - hardly the privacy we should expect! Noise was also a factor with other guests partying until late into the night screaming and singing at both room locations. The interior of the villa was nice but curtains were jammed and couldn’t open fully, the wardrobe was tiny and couldn’t fit dresses without being squashed, and each time you wanted additional supplies (like tea bags) you had to use the app to order but could only order 1 at a time! With all this in mind we elected to depart early - no refund on our remaining 9 nights. The hotel did not speak to us in regard to our concerns until our check out day - Biew at the front counter was the only staff member to offer any apology to raised concerns at this time. Whilst we understand we elected to leave early we felt at least some (perhaps two nights noting the 7 day cancellation policy) could have been refunded. We were offered the long stay discount on meals. Overall, it has been a throughly disappointing experience. We will not return and would not recommend.

Spent a good 3 nights in Nov to attend a wedding and break from hectic city life. The vibe in the resort was very helpful to slow down the pace. High recommending the SO Spa! My friend loved it so much we went for a seesion every day!
