It was good, but not the same anymore. We first came on Oct 2023 and management has clearly changed since then. Sure, there is normal wear and tear in the property, but upkeep has been ok. F&B is still great. We clearly remember two staff members (a man and a woman, probably supervisors) who took excellent care of guests themselves, the rest of the crew were nice and kind too, but didn’t yet quite have the same initiative as the two. Food was still great, particularly the breakfast buffet and the beach bar. Kids tent staff were excellent. Ice and Jeena really engaged with the kids and kept the place clean, safe, and fun Pool and activities staff were just…there. Not like before where you really appreciated their presence and ready assistance. Moving the pool towels in-room makes very little sense. Lugging around towels down the stairs with kids in a hotel with no elevators is not only inconvenient but really unsafe. Housekeeping really needs more looking after. There was a standing rollaway bed outside the landing on our floor for at least two days. Random, unsightly, and a safety issue. Rooms were clean enough, but basic things were lacking or not replenished unless requests were made multiple times. There was no coffee machine in our room until we asked. The rationed capsules of two a day were kind of laughable. Mini bar snacks were not replenished unless asked. These little things give off cheap and stingy, and not like the usual Accor experience we’ve had in this resort and other Accor family resorts we’ve been to on past holidays. Tech-wise, smart tv is appreciated, but streaming could be made simpler. Merely having the netflix, amazon, youtube, disney apps etc. would suffice, as most people would be able to log on with their account anyway. Pairing is simple enough, but doesn’t work on all devices, and when it does, gets randomly disconnected from time to time. The new hotel app has not proved to be useful, as messages sent were unanswered and requests made were unheeded anyway. Again, these are little things. They didn’t completely ruin our holidays and we have no regrets staying at SO, we had a great time and will have great memories anyway. But as hoteliers would know, these little things really do matter.

The check in was smooth. We got the 3rd floor which is not ideal due to us. We have 77 years old women but the hotel only has stairs. The room is huge and pretty nice, the bathroom is huge, it has a bathtub, a huge overhead shower on the ceiling which there is no way to shower, also the bathtub-shower does not work properly. A unique design but not practical, the toilet is beside the overhead shower so no one can't use when there is someone showering. Breakfast is good and lots of choices. During the stay, I just realized that hotel is a pet friendly, I wasn't sure if the pets are allowed to stay in the room too. Just FYI for other guests. The worst part was the restaurant by the sea. (not sure the name of restaurant) We went with an elderly woman, and the restaurant was crowded, although there were many empty tables. We waited for a table to be cleared so we could sit down, but the staff were completely inattentive and didn't clear the table for us. We waited for a long time, so we called the front desk to check with another restaurant to see if we could get a seat there. When we were about to leave, the staff finally told us to sit down, even though we had been waiting for a very long time. This is the hotel with the worst restaurant service we've ever experienced. First time and Last time at the same time for this hotel. So sorry for the ACCOR.

Positive: Friendly, welcoming staff, especially at the front office. Really excellent breakfast and delicious dinner at White Oven (even though it was expensive). Negative: There aren’t many sun loungers. By the largest pool there are none at all (only rooms with direct pool access border this area). At the second pool there are only 5 cabanas and 4 sun loungers (with limited shade options), and the last pool is adults-only. So not really a lot of options to be on a sun lounger while your kids are in the pool. The pools are also very cold. The rooms are extremely noisy—you can hear everything from outside, especially from the corridor. The hotel is very isolated, and it was difficult to get a Bolt since we were a larger group of 7 people. Cha-am is a locally oriented Thai town and not very geared toward foreigners.
