Good central location

Hotel is in a good location right in the middle of town. It is a big hotel and a bit of a maze but if you follow the signs and directions given at check in then you should be fine. Rooms were ok, reasonable size and clean, fine for the price and we didnt spend much time in them, it was very warm but you were given a fan and could open the window, only thing was there were lots of pigeons outside the window. Breakfast was nice and had a good choice and staff were helpful when we asked for eggs cooked different way. Hotel carpark is tiny and very tight spaces, i wouldnt bother and would use the shopping centre carpark which is just opposite, it only cost £6 to park from Fri night to sun morning however note it closes at 7pm-7am and the barriers come down so you cant get in or out even on foot!

There are worse places to stay than this place BUT that doesn’t mean that it is without its faults. Positives: Easy to find, staff were pleasant enough, excellent showers and the breakfast, while buffet style was cooked to an excellent standard. Negatives: Bring earplugs if you’re staying on a weekend night because the rooms are anything but noise proof. They’re also very warm and although there was a fan provided, it didn’t do much. Also a funny smell coming from the room. Couldn’t tell what it was and the curtains looked dirty too. From a personal standpoint, I didn’t sleep well as the pillows were paper thin but that’s a personal preference. I won’t slate the hotel and would stay again if there were no other options but this place is in need of a thorough upgrade. It’s fine if you just need somewhere to sleep in. No complaints from us really but we can’t heap tonnes of praise on it either!

Very poor stay. Parking - the spaces are so tight it’s nearly impossible to park. My suggestion is to use shopping centre parking 50 yards away, it gets locked at 7pm and is the same price as the hotel. Check in was easy enough, but then you have a magical mystery tour to find room. Being on the forth floor involves 2 lifts and a decent hike to find it. Outside temperature was not that bad but the rooms were ridiculously hot and stuffy. Breakfast was a joke. The first morning food was not replenished so half the items were missing. The second morning plenty of food just no plates and cutlery. I could not be bothered on the 3rd morning. I believe this hotel is ok if your out on Saturday night and just need to crash as location is in centre of town and only 5 minute walk from station but could not recommend. Only reason I can give 2* is the staff were all pleasant.
