Speedy check in and friendly reception staff. Big room booked and it didn't disappoint. Big comfy bed and overall room preparation spot on by Danielle. Thanks Danielle. Good pub grub and freshly made pizza in the restraunt. Plenty parking and a good comfortable stay. Only minor point is the noise from the kitchen extractors does go on into the night. Closed the windows and bumped up the air con, nice. Would recommend.

Booked the George Washington hotel this was a gift from my boyfriend, to visit the Angel of the north. Hotel ruined it.

My boyfriend booked this as a surprise for me, but the hotel ruined the whole experience. I have never experienced anything like this hotel ever. This was not 4* . We booked a superior room as it had a jacuzzi. The pictures looked great. What we got was a room that was out dated run down and filthy. They even had the cheek to offer a 10% discount after complaining which was an insult. We were on ground floor and even the table and chairs outside the room were filthy and full of algae. They did offer us a room change , these where rooms that where updated and fresh but not superior with a jacuzzi which was what my boyfriend paid for, now if they would have refunded half the money back then it would have been okay in a smaller room and clean of course we would have settled for that, but it was if they did not give a hoot. We also purchased breakfast that was steep at £30 each to find that was awful too. Black pudding was hard and dry bacon pale hash browns over fried and cold had to ask for bread to make toast it was just a disaster.As for the coffee 🤦‍♀️. Then we decided to make use of swimming pool etc to try and make the most of it. This hotel pool/gym was used by people not actually staying. Pool was small jacuzzi you had to wait 20 mins to use in so I decided to have a swim first and as I started to move hands in pool I got hair in my fingers put me right off and we gave up. Did not stay for the duration we paid for and left. Sent a letter of complaint to their head office and got 0 reply.

Very tired ghostly hotel. It’s a maze internally to find anything, the pool is tiny. The photos have been stretched with a wide angle lens to make it appear like a big health club. On an outer ring road. No scenic runs/walks. Basic breakfasts that finish by 09:30! No atmosphere or brand. Very brown and beaten. Clean, but smells of soap everywhere. Rooms smell tired and dusty and bed throw cushion never been laundered. Mattress springs felt. Staff not interested in helping and seem half asleep apart from the chambermaids. Do not recommend and our department won’t book again.

We had stayed for my husbands birthday weekend, lovely place it seemed, two lots of holding deposit taken from us by manager by mistake, £100. Took 7 days to return.. we also had £10 taken from us in the restaurant incorrectly yet still waiting for accounts to confirm we can have this back. We checked out 8 days ago and are still waiting, but when I was told a refund of money will be issued to us for partial break due to issues there, they took an extra £50 from us in the mean time. So much money taken out of my account by mistake ! 8 days past check out and more money is still being take out despite having been sent a clear invoice no charges !!! No complaints procedure either

I took my partner here for Valentine’s Day overnight stay with Spa booking and Dinner. Outstanding service from all and great food. The room was beautiful, we must have been upgraded which was kind because of the package we were on. Highly recommend. The value for money was great too.
