The Sebel Sydney Chatswood 4,5 Sterne

Stay away! Very poor experience here. Just stayed Monday night 13th March. Very slow check in (approximately 10 mins per person) as only one person on desk. And then we find out there is a $100 security bond! That's enough reason not to stay here again but then I get into my room and there is a mechanical rattling noise coming from the ceiling in the walkway into the bedroom. I then used the bathroom and noticed there were someone else's cut fingernails in between the taps - disgusting! I went down to ask for another room but was told there wasn't one. I asked to have the bathroom cleaned at least which they did do whilst I went to dinner but no-one was available to investigate the noise. I then asked again to move rooms and they did end up putting me in another room. This one was quieter but I kept finding filth everywhere I went. I honestly don't know what their cleaners do here. Photos attached - hair on floor in bathroom, dirty drink stains on bedside tables and sticky marks on the dining table when it hadn't been used by me. Also food and dust on the carpet inside the wardrobe. Will not stay here ever again - it is dated and run-down. You've been warned..

It's a simple accommodation. Comfortable, though I kept my expectations low considering what I read in the last few, recent reviews. There was some miscommunication with the front desk as there was a huge group of us. It was sorted, but to me it looks like the staff don't communicate with each other or leave any handover notes when they get off shifts. The rooms are clean, quite basic and there aren't enough cleaning amenities. No housekeeping so it would've helped if there were more toilet paper in stock, dishwasher liquid, trash bags, etc, for our own cleaning up. I wouldn't bother with their gym as there are just a few cardio machines, no free weights etc. The car park is limited and scattered around so come early if you need your parking. Location is great, across a mall and near the metro.

Great location close to Chatswood train station, Westfield shopping centre, woolworths and more. Trains are a little loud, but bearable (and l'm a light sleeper). Rooms are very spacious. We had a 2 bedroom apartment. Apartment was tidy but agree with other reviews, its cleanliness was not that of a 4 star hotel. I had to clean the bathrooms as they were not cleaned properly, especially toilets. That was disappointing. Kitchen appliances were greasy and l had to clean them before use. Beds were very comfortable. Even the kids loved them. We a trundle brought in and it too was very comfortable. Pillows could be better, but were overall comfortable and did the job for one or two nights. Balcony door did not lock and curtain in lounge has come off its track slightly. Amenities are great. Perfect for a family of 5. There are limited car spots at $30 a day, but l imagine most people may not drive here. Staff very welcoming. Lifts need cleaning and an upgrade. Overall nice hotel perfectly located near public transport and other facilities but needs a really good clean. Sadly this let's the hotel down. Just take wipes for cleaning. Family of 4 stayed for a week. PLUS * We chose it for its Excellent location, right in the heart of Chatswood, across the road from massive Westfield shopping centre, 3 minutes from train station. * Reasonable price. * Friendly staff. MINUS * Aging building in dire need of an upgrade, things are falling apart. * Phones not working. Had to take the lift to reception to ask for towels etc. NOT convenient. Despite asking for it to be fixed 4 times! * Lift not working properly * Leaking shower, bath mat always soaked and no spare provided. * Nice to have a pool but Pool heater broken, * Etc.

We have stayed here a number of times over the years and have seen it rapidly decline. We were in room 1302. First thing we noticed was that there were no knobs on the oven, we told reception and they came and looked and said there would be a guy to look at it tomorrow but they never came. They offered us to cook in another room and now I read other reviews and see this must be a common problem at Sebel. The kitchen and bathrooms were not clean and there was hair on the floors. Only three dinner plates for a family of four. Only one saucepan no fry pan. No tea towel, broom or vacuum and now they only clean once a week for long stay. We were there for six nights and not one clean or top up of essential items such as toilet paper and soap, which was empty as they are refillable pumps. Carpet and furniture was dirty, windows unclean and a dining chair was broken. The pool heater was not working and there were tiles lifted up in the pool area and cordoned off. All the staff were polite and helpful apart from the gentleman who checked us in, who made a couple of inappropriate jokingly comments to me when I questioned the charge of something which was very embarrassing for me in front of other guests. For the price the Sebel is definitely not value for money and we will not stay there again.
