This is the second time we have stayed here. We thoroughly enjoyed. Dinner on Saturday night was amazing. The Mother's day desert was the best I have had in a long time. Compliments to the chef.

Easy to find. Good parking. Quick check in. Cheerful and helpful staff. Large room. Sunday night and on-site restaurant was only open for room service. Although Accor discount could be applied, the room was not particularly suitable for dining in, there being no table and only one chair. Breakfast was very good but disappointing barista coffee was available but not inclusive. As a Platinum member did not receive an upgrade however loyalty gift of wine and cheese platter was very much appreciated.

I think for the amount of money I paid to stay there I expected it to be nicer. It’s was very basic. The room smelt like bleach when we first arrived then once that went away it was a wet mouldy kind of smell. The TV was old and the only channels you could watch were basically just sport or pay extra to watch movies. As if I’m not paying enough. The staff were nice and helpful. But that’s not enough of a reason to make me come and stay there again. I’ll definitely look elsewhere next time.

Worst Accor hotel I have stayed in

I moved from the resident stay of Executive Inn to Novotel as my company changed its policy so I could use my status with Accor hotels so I asked my assistant to book me into Novotel so I could try this out for myself longer term and for me to give feedback to my company for staff that visit Newcastle. Apart from the actual food in the restaurant, everything else felt dirty about your 4.5* rated hotel. I walked into room 320, to find dirty sheets, and human left overs (nose dirt). The pillows did not look like they were replaced from the previous guest. There was a stench in the room like it was mouldy. I had taken photos of the complaints and went back down to reception to complain. The lady at check in apologised and put me in 212. She did not want to see the photos but said she would go and inspect herself. I had left the welcome amenity of sparkling water in the fridge by mistake. As I was hungry and after a long day, I decided to stay in the room and went down to dinner. I went to see the lady who checked me in but there was another lady there. I stated that I had mistakenly left the sparkling water in 320 fridge and asked if I could get it. She said she cannot give me the keys but she will arrange to bring it up to 212 later. Whilst the dinner was really good, when I went to sign the bill at the counter, I noticed 2 cockroaches running around under the coffee machine, to the teller machines. I went back to the room to shower before bed and after the shower when I went to dry myself, there was left over woman's blonde hair on my towel. I took another towel to dry myself. I went to brush my teeth and the sink was blocked. I pressed the sink button in and out a few times to try and unblock it and had black and grey material come out. I had to wash it down the drain myself. When I eventually got to bed, I noticed the duvet cover had tear in it. Whilst the bed was comfortable, the whole experience did not sit well at all but given the time of the night, I eventually went to sleep. The next morning I met with the assistant manager and I explained that I am from Sydney but come to Newcastle nearly every week for a few nights and have been staying at the Executive Inn but given the benefits of my Accor Membership, I am choosing to stay at Novotel this time to see if this is worth my stay. I went on to explain the issues I have faced as listed above, to which his response was, "Sorry, I will get the bedsheets changed". That evening I returned from work and saw the same lady that checked me in and explained that I did not get the water in my room from 320, and she did not look impressed and stated that it should be there and if it isn't to give her a call. When I got into the room, it was not there. If it is that difficult to give me a bottle of sparkling water as the welcome amenity then I am not valued as a customer at this hotel. At dinner I had a good experience from the lady at the diner, however, when I went on to pay for the dinner, once again, I spotted a baby cockroach roaming around - I have pictures of this. Based on the above experience, I have told my assistant and my company not to stay at your hotel ever again. It is shame that the level of service is so diminished at your hotel that there should actually be a complaint to the relevant Tourism and health departments. Whilst I will not go there, I ask that you look at all your services, and start again.
