Lovely Hotel in the heart of the Circular Quay Area

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The staff was wonderful and accommodating, the room showed a little wear but was great, and the views out the room window were nice. Each room is like a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. We came for 3 nights, left for 3 nights and came back for 3 nights. The hotel held our luggage for us for the 3 nights we were gone. The hotel is right on the edge of The Rocks and about 3 blocks from Circular Quay. The Opera House is nearby as well. It is also about 2 blocks from the cruise port, but would be difficult to walk to if you have a lot of luggage. We would definitely stay here again.

We recently stayed at the Sebel West Quay for 3 nights after disembarking a cruise. The hotel was in walking distance from the port and in a great location for the ferries, Opera house and Harbour Bridge. On checking in we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite which was very spacious, everything you need inc washer/dryer but the jewel in the crown was the amazing view. I would definitely stay here again without a doubt.

Dissapointing room, great view and location

The apartment we had as 2 couples was spacious with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen area, laundry room and lounge area. That is the plus side of the apartment. The apartment was shabby, smelt musty, the carpet in the lounge was dreadful with stains and threadbare areas plus it was rucked up. The furniture was very basic and not comfortable. The fridge door did not close properly. The upside was the amazing view from the lounge area which was a joy and the hotel location . We only are breakfast on one day, the service was hit and miss, we had to ask for butter for the toast which in the end after waiting my friend went and found it herself. The tables were not all cleared . It appeared there were 3 staff working but not many tables taken so it was difficult to understand why it all took too long and service below standard. We were dissapointed as we had friends from NZ staying with us and we had travelled from the UK. As I said the view was amazing which kind of compensated for the room. We had apartment 1207.

Noisy and Outdated Rooms

Plenty of better options for the same price elsewhere. Booked a 10 day extended stay at the Sebel Quay Suites which boasted 'Newly Refurbished' rooms. Upon checking in, the first thing I noticed is the musky smell of stale air as well as how hot and humid the room is. Not a pleasant experience to walk into after a long flight and checking in. This is not what I expect when I book a 'Newly Refurbished' room for $500 per night. Attempting to remove the musky smell, I turned on the air conditioner which resulted in a constant disturbing rumbling noise, as well as the plumbing in the walls sounding like you've booked a trip to the Niagara Falls. After one night I expressed my disappointment to the staff as I could not sleep with the excess noise and had paid over $5000 which was mandatory to be paid in full before checking in. They told me there is no refunds, just deal with it. Despite forfeiting $5000, I checked out after 1 night of terrible sleep and found much better accomodation elsewhere and for a cheaper price.

We sincerely apologise for the issues you encountered, including the air conditioning and musky smell in the room. It is disappointing to hear about your experience because this apartment is in fact one of our refurbished apartment with a partial Harbour Bridge view. After investigating further with my team, I have noted that once you have expressed your disappointment with the room, they have offered you a room move which was declined. Also our manager on duty has offered you to keep the remaining nights of your reservation as a credit for future use, valid for a year. This decision has been made as a gesture of goodwill and considering the issues you have experienced because you have booked your room on a Prepaid rate which clearly states it is non-refundable and non-cancellable. These Prepaid rates are cheaper than Flexible rates where you can cancel the booking up to 6pm the day before of your arrival and are fully refundable. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve, and we hope to welcome you back in the future to utilise your credit on file and to experience a refreshed and improved stay.
