it was an amazing trip in indonesia and jakarta is my first stop to explore with my friends. we stay in grand mercure for 2 days. the hotel is very good, breakfast is delicious and also facilities is nice

Stayed mid-February solo in a deluxe double room. The hotel is located in North Jakarta, near to city center, national monument and several attractions. However, the traffic in this area is very bad due to MRT project going on. Expect long trips to south and west areas of the city. The hotel is huge with spacious lobby and multiple facilities such as gym and spa. Check-in was efficient and smooth with my request of non smoking room being fulfilled. The room is clean, neat and has nice view of the neighborhood. There is a sofa and small table. It is missing an iron and board for ironing clothes but it can be requested from housekeeping. The breakfast was good. The restaurant offered different local and int'l varieties and daily fresh fruit cuts, but it is more focused on local cuisine (too oily). Staff are friendly, welcoming and responsive. The spa is operated by 3rd party vendor. I would not recommend their service as it is overpriced and staff lacked skills for treatment chosen. There are better options in town at more reasonable prices. I have to mention that during check out, I experienced an unpleasant situation. I brought some tropical fruits in an empty box that needed packing so I can bring home with me. The concierge staff denied entry of box and asked that I perform packing in the lobby area which was uncomfortable. I explained to front office manager that I am checking out immediately and not going to consume any item and that there are no durians in the box; and he was cooperative and allowed carrying the items to my room. so I went up and waited over half an hour and concierge did not deliver my box until I called several times and explained that manager said OK to bring it up. This situation totally ruined my staying experience. The value of this hotel is good for the services provided. However, I would not be staying again given vast hotel choices in Jakarta.
