£19 for half fish and chips won't be back

Stayed the night for our yearly xmas shopping trip. Nice reception bar and restaurant area staff are all friendly and welcoming. Buffet breakfast was fabulous rooms are very dated loose soap in the bathroom missing bulb above the bed. Used the restaurant for evening meal £19.50 for half a fish and chips safe to say i won't be back. Hotel is very handy if shopping as its 5 minutes away.

Looks are deceiving from outside doesn’t look great but once inside fantastic entrance bar / restaurant, clean and tidy, room but dated but no complaints, lunch was lovely and breakfast was great choice of continental and full cooked options available, staff brilliant from Nikki and Nathan on reception to Abigail in the restaurant made the stay! We will be back that there is no doubt!

Better stay this time

This is my 3rd stay here come every year with wife for Xmas shopping a bit early this year improved stay this year got a great deal on line so stayed for one night room reception staff very friendly and welcoming a good start then room was very hot when I went it good as it was very cold outside for money paid room was good every thing we needed dinner was improved this year than last year dinner staff were exceptional great service and good food breakfast good as well so tell your thank your staff for their good work and for being very friendly so hope to see your all next year thanks again

Have had the most wonderful stay at the Mercure. Excellent service from all the staff, wonderful atmosphere, food was amazing and a great room with plenty of space lovely location

Smell of smoke

Booked a premium no smoking room. Ended up with a standard room that smelt of stale smoke with a fancy sign on the door. We only had one seat (reception provided a 2nd) we had one towel on the bathroom the 2nd was in a plastic bag in a drawer. Compare pictures really looks like a standard room, one big con. Biggest problem really was the stales smoke smell. Spent the day shopping and now all the clothes we bought smell of smoke. Don't ever stay here.
