I came here for one night on a work trip, from the photos online I expected the hotel to be nothing fancy but did not expect it to be as bad as it was. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the general look of the lobby was dated albeit pleasant. The issue I had was as soon as you left the lobby/restaurant area, the hotel looked terrible, the hallway had a faded dirty carpet and a stale smell in the air. The room was no better, the toilet floor was stained around the toilet itself, the door in the bathroom had a chunk out of it, the wallpaper was scraped off in places and the room generally looked like it hadn’t been furnished since the 90s. I was very tired on arrival and had no issue sleeping as the bed was clean and comfortable enough. However there was an unpleasant “old” smell in the room, and the heater in the room made banging noises throughout the evening. To summarise, nice staff, decent breakfast facilities and decent quality food. Hotel condition in hallways and rooms, the worst I’ve seen in the UK.

Terrible supervisor!

Terrible supervisor! Lewis mcalpine accused me of lying over a bottle of water that I left on the bar, he started arguing with me over it after I walked away for 5 minutes, if it wasn’t for the waitress joy who realised I didn’t take it with me after paying my bill and paying £4.00 for a bottle of water to take back to my room, he wouldn’t have give it back to me. He even asked me an hour before to leave a good review online after I just met him, what a joke. Also I left a sign on my door asking for my room to not be cleaned while I was in work but they cleaned it anyway and moved all my personal belonging around and a £1 coin went missing.

Fantastic staff and excellent food. Would highly recommend for an evening out. Really good location if you also wanted to go to the shops or any other local activities Good parking and easily accessible for those that need easy access. Thanks

Room without Jacuzzi

Great staff all-around especially Rebecca on front desk. But everyone was friendly and helpful. Quite why I need to write a 200 character essay/review is a bit weird though. Will I be paid for it?! Rebecca will get the reference in the Title.

Relaxing and Friendly

So glad to see this hotel back up and running to its former glory. Every single member of staff couldn't do enough to help my husband and I - even during the jight when we just wanted a drink. Garry in the restaurant/bar ensured we felt welcomed and made a point to learn about us. As a heavily pregnant woman we were here to relax and the whole team ensured this was possible. From sitting at the beautiful fire to enjoying jugs of iced water in our room everything was catered for. We had stayed as part of the DBB rate and this was excellent value for money. The room we stayed in (150) had been newly painted, with new carpets and curtains. Very clean and incredibly comfortable. We had a 2 course meal in the restaurant - good range of choices available and was really enjoyable. We also had some non alcoholic ciders to wash it down. At breakfast, we had a full cooked breakfast and helped ourselves to fruit, yoghurts, pastries and cereals - all delicious! Some people in the restaurant also ordered omelettes and additional items cooked to order. We will definitely be back and thank you to everyone for making our last trip as a child free couple so enjoyable!
