Staff excellent during a medical emergency

My stay in Edinburgh was cut short due to a gallstone attack that ended up with a severe case of pancreatitis. When I became violently ill in the streets of Edinburgh and stumbled back into the hotel, the manager assisted me in reaching my hotel room, tried to arrange an ambulance twice and stayed and comforted me as best she could until my wife returned to the hotel to assist me. I was hospitalised for 2 weeks over which time my wife stayed at the hotel and was well supported by the staff. The customer focus and support was excellent. I am hoping to return to Edinburgh one day - and stay at the Novotel Edinburgh Centre again. I cannot thank the staff enough.

1) room cleaning was very slow. The chambermaid only started cleaning at 350pm after we made a complain. 2) the lifts are always crowded. We Had to use stairs in several occasions 3) the shower screen is way too short/small. We I shower, water often splashes onto the floor making it slippery and dangerous when getting out of the bathtub.

We stayed in the suite for 3 nights as a family of four. It’s well appointed and equipped although the sofa bed isn’t really fit for two and the toilet and shower have glass doors which leave little in the way of privacy. We made us of the pool each day which is small but pleasant and there’s a sauna. Breakfast was a little busy even early on but the food was of a high standard. Staff were either professional and welcoming or, in a couple of cases, a little sharp. We paid over £1100 for 3 nights and if we went again we would stay next door at the Premier Inn and book two rooms for around a third of the price.

Would definitely stay again!

Great family friendly hotel, the pool is an added bonus when travelling with young kids, changing rooms are small but do the job. Food is great and service is quick and friendly. Lovely atmosphere in dining room at night and even better when there is live music in tap lounge, food reasonably priced and always delicious, kids meals are a great size. Reception staff really helpful and gave out eggs to the kids on sat before Easter. Easy to store luggage before check in and after check out. Hotel is convenient location even for parties with mobility issues as the bus stop for hop on hop off bus is less than 5 min walk away and 10 min walk to the beautiful grassmarket. Our room had castle views with queen bed, double sofa bed and travel cot and still plenty of space.

Highly recommend!

We stayed for four nights and absolutely loved it here. It was clean, fresh, nice staff that helped us right away when we needed it and great breakfast. I’m glutenintolerant and it was no problem. Next time we travel to the city we will live here again.
