We have stayed here before, and again the stay was fantastic, from the comfortable bed to the lovely breakfast, would recommend this hotel very much, staff very polite and helpful. Hotel is set a beautiful location and easy to visit bristol, Arindam took good care of us. Lee

Wonderful Baby Shower

We arranged a baby shower for 34 guests for my daughter on Nov 2nd. We had afternoon tea and it was wonderful. The staff were so lovely, welcoming and supportive and were on hand at all times. Katie arranged the event with me and had passed on all of the information to the staff working that weekend perfectly so it went really smoothly. The afternoon tea was generous and delicious and the staff were attentive consistently. The room was set up well and it was so lovely overlooking the surroundings. The hotel itself was great with plenty of parking. I would highly recommend this hotel and would have no qualms to arrange another event here. Thank you for a great Saturday afternoon.

Vipin is an excellent host,a great barman and his service all around is so friendly,helpful and sincere.Also the Mercure Hotel and its astonishing grounds and trees and surrounding areas are extremely beautiful.I would recommend staying here to anyone.

Working away and stayed at the mercure bristol where I was welcomed by the loveliest man Vipin! My man vipin provided entertainment and banter for the lads watching the football and was a lovely host. Had a great time and fit in well with people from such a different culture to his own, he's a credit to your company.

Absolutely Digusting Service , Rude staff and Appauling Management DO NOT BOOK AN EVENT AT THIS HOTEL!!

I really don't know where to start! We attended our friends funeral reception at the hotel yesterday, this was a well attended funeral and the hotel were informed of this in advance. I was sceptical of how the staff would cope even before we arrived, ( we were at a wedding reception here a couple of weeks prior where I found the service by staff very slow with just one staff on the bar for 150 wedding guests! ) So on arrival yesterday we had to wait an hour in the queue at the bar for our first drink, being an ex landlady of a busy pub , I was disgusted , I even offered to help behind the bar! I approached reception to ask why there was only minimum staff on both bars when they knew beforehand this was going to be a huge event, my response was ' 2 of our reception staff are now there ' Reception staff!! No way we're they bar trained !! The beer taps ran dry but the staff had to call the manager , (who was as useful as a chocolate teapot) to change the barrels!! In fact our friend Hayley , Nigels widow approached the bar and asked if they would kindly open a few bottles of prosecco to give to all the people waiting at both bars , after hayley had left the bar one of the so called bar staff mouthed " Who the F@@k is she?" This was overheard by many guests in the queue who were absolutely appalled !! Eventually we were seated and sipped our drinks as slowly as we could so as not to have to wait another hour to be served, let's now head to the buffet .......what buffet!! There was no food laid out, finally after alot of guests left due to the very poor service, the buffet was bought out by the chocolate teapot manager, two trays at a time what an absolute shambles !!! I conclude my review leaving heartfelt thoughts to Hayley who has received appauling service from you hotel , I will be putting in a formal complaint to your Head Office regarding this matter!

Dear peggysR6058AS, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’d like to address your concerns head-on, as we take all reviews seriously and work hard to maintain the standards our guests expect. First, I want to emphasise that we were fully aware of the event and its importance. We had nearly 400 guests in attendance, when we were informed there would be approx 150. While we had 5 bar staff working across two bars, I understand that the demand may have caused delays, and for that, I apologise. However, it’s important to recognise that, given the scale of the event, some waiting times were unavoidable despite our best efforts. Regarding the incident with the beer taps, it is standard procedure for a manager to handle barrel changes to ensure everything runs smoothly. The comment allegedly made by a staff member is completely unacceptable if true, and I will be investigating this thoroughly. However, no such behavior is tolerated at our hotel, and we will take swift action if any unprofessionalism is confirmed. As for the buffet, the food was brought out gradually to maintain freshness, especially with such a large number of guests. I’m sorry that it didn’t meet your expectations, but the service was paced to accommodate the high volume of attendees. While I understand the frustrations surrounding a large event, our team worked hard under challenging circumstances with the extra guests, and I stand by the efforts made to ensure a respectful and attentive service for Hayley and her guests. We do take your concerns seriously, but I also want to make clear that managing an event of this size always presents logistical challenges, and our staff did their best to ensure a smooth experience for everyone involved.
