A Good hotel for short stays but..............

We booked for a short stay at this hotel through the Mercure Website, based on the description on the website & its good location, transport links etc. The Hotel is small, but well maintained internally with the room we had being a little small but again well maintained, clean & with good facilities. The Staff were all friendly, very helpful and efficient. Where this Hotel falls down is its lack of public spaces such a a lounge. The only space available is a small seating area adjacent to the small bar adjacent to the reception desk, so the only place to relax was in your room. Of more concern is the exterior appearance of the Hotel & the description of amenities in the website description. The website states that the Hotel has an in-house Restaurant where breakfast would be taken. This is not the case. The Restaurant is closed & boarded up and appears to have been for some time. Breakfasts have to be obtained from an Italian Restaurant some 100 yards away. The breakfasts were actually very good. This arrangement is ok as long at it is not raining. Of greater concern, not referred to in the website at all, is that the Hotel is undergoing considerable external renovation & is currently completely obscured by Scaffolding & opaque plastic, see image, which completely obscures the view from all guest rooms. Work started while we were there with men clattering around on the Scaffolding & tapping & scraping away at the walls noisily. On the whole our experience at this hotel was positive, but would only consider this Hotel in its present condition for short stays.

The reception team were first class. They accommodated us brilliantly. Big shout out for Nipsia and Zach who managed to sort out our booking and had 3 rooms close to each other which suited our needs. Ahmed on the door was also great and he made sure our luggage was safe and secure. Hope your managers know what a great team they have at this branch in Paddington.

Exceptional Service by Abdul – A True Asset to Mercure Paddington and the IHG Brand

We recently faced a frustrating situation with our travel agent, who booked us the wrong room category not once, but twice first in another hotel and again at Mercure Paddington. I had personally chosen this hotel because it’s part of the IHG group, which I trust for its quality and consistency. Unfortunately, upon check-in, we discovered that our reservation was for a twin bed room instead of the twin room (two single beds) we had requested. The room was also very small, and since we were staying for five nights, it wasn’t suitable for us to work and rest comfortably. While we were speaking with our agent, Abdul at the front desk overheard our concern and immediately approached us with genuine care. After understanding the situation, he checked with the reservations team to see what could be done. Within minutes, he returned with a solution he arranged for us to move to their sister property, Mercure Hyde Park, into a double-bed room that was more spacious and comfortable for our stay. Thanks to Abdul, what started as a stressful check-in turned into a pleasant experience. His professionalism, empathy, and quick action truly reflect the values of the IHG brand. We are sincerely grateful for his help and would highly recommend Mercure Paddington because of the outstanding service he provided.

Good location hotel with small rooms

Good location hotel next to Paddington station. Hotel nearby has a hop on & hop off bus stop too. However, hotel entrance has steps so can be challenging with heavy luggage although usually hotel guy is there to assist. As usual in London, rooms are small and only a tiny fridge, and being an Accorplus Platinum member in the UK, there are no elite benefits like daily breakfast and room upgrade. Free breakfast only on weekends.

Great location. Room I booked was small but quiet. London hotels are expensive! No breakfast available after the closure of the restaurant they used and which was adjacent. There are loads of places nearby though. Staff are friendly and helpful.
