Perfect for Transit via Elizabeth Line, but Cramped and Costly

We chose this hotel for a one-night stopover specifically to use the Elizabeth Line back to Heathrow. On that front, it was perfect. However, the physical constraints of the hotel were a bit frustrating. The reception is very small, and navigating the lifts with suitcases was surprisingly difficult. While the room was clean and remarkably quiet, the lack of a view and the high price point made it feel like poor value for money. It's a solid choice for a quick, quiet transit stay, but be prepared for a bit of a squeeze.

Great hotel with exceptional staff!

Stayed here for 1 night ahead of a flight to go on holiday. Arrived by train to Paddington and the hotel is literally a 1 min walk. The welcome we had was amazing from the reception staff. Our room was very compact, however it was spotlessly clean, great shower and had everything we needed. Breakfast is off site, 2-3 min walk but was absolutely delicious! I would definitely stay here again.

Average stay. Hotel very nicely located . Executive room confortable but getting old. Stayed on 4th floor with no lift for 3 days not ideal for a 4 stars hotel ! Definitely will have to work on their service quality. Had to call several times for housekeeping to be completed. Front desk not friendly or helpful except for a gentleman at reception and a security staff at the main door (from Romania) who truly stood out.

Brilliant staff - shockingly poor corporate overbooking policies.

I’ve used this property before and recommended it, but never again. The room I was offered, having booked well in advance, was not the upgrade promised, plus there was a scaffolding catwalk right outside my window. Raising this with reception, I was first gaslit ‘that is the room grade booked’ - it blatantly wasn’t. And ‘we can’t offer you anything else as the hotel is overbooked’ - like that was MY problem, not theirs. All this said, the receptionist was the epitome of professionalism and calm, offering me a room in a sister hotel nearby and even walking me across the road to inspect it. The corporate overbooking policies are not her fault, and I felt sorry for her being at the sharp end. I accepted the alternative, so I’m staying with the brand, if not the property, partly based on that customer service and partly on the super-warm welcome I recived across the road from a team member called Shah.

A Good hotel for short stays but..............

We booked for a short stay at this hotel through the Mercure Website, based on the description on the website & its good location, transport links etc. The Hotel is small, but well maintained internally with the room we had being a little small but again well maintained, clean & with good facilities. The Staff were all friendly, very helpful and efficient. Where this Hotel falls down is its lack of public spaces such a a lounge. The only space available is a small seating area adjacent to the small bar adjacent to the reception desk, so the only place to relax was in your room. Of more concern is the exterior appearance of the Hotel & the description of amenities in the website description. The website states that the Hotel has an in-house Restaurant where breakfast would be taken. This is not the case. The Restaurant is closed & boarded up and appears to have been for some time. Breakfasts have to be obtained from an Italian Restaurant some 100 yards away. The breakfasts were actually very good. This arrangement is ok as long at it is not raining. Of greater concern, not referred to in the website at all, is that the Hotel is undergoing considerable external renovation & is currently completely obscured by Scaffolding & opaque plastic, see image, which completely obscures the view from all guest rooms. Work started while we were there with men clattering around on the Scaffolding & tapping & scraping away at the walls noisily. On the whole our experience at this hotel was positive, but would only consider this Hotel in its present condition for short stays.
