City centre gem

From our entry to the hotel receptionist Dora was so welcoming and friendly. She gave us all the information to make our stay comfortable. The hotel has a pool and gym. The room are warm and comfortable and well serviced. Breakfast was included in our stay and was fresh and varied. The hotel has easy access to all the sites and shopping.

I was given a gift of ‘Scouse afternoon tea’ from a friend, so took advantage on an early Friday afternoon. Food was nice, a blend of savoury stuff- including a crusty roll topped with Scouse & red cabbage (Scouse box ticked), some cakes, Prosecco and a couple of baby Guinness. It was all tasty, nice staff, restaurant area although quiet was warm, welcoming and comfortable Enjoyed the few hours very much, we are local so unlikely to stay over in Liverpool, but if we were looking for a hotel, would seriously consider the Novotel

Just got home from a weekend in Liverpool at the Novotel, what an absolutely fabulous weekend. Obviously Liverpool is a fantastic experience but it was complimented by a fantastic hotel. Wonderful Queen's Suite room with space for the 3 of us, we didn't hear a peep out of any of the other guests, so quiet, the room had everything with the bonus of a fridge and a 60 inch TV! Quite spacious and so clean, spotless toilet and shower rooms (separate) the breakfast was fabulous and it was a buffet style, we went up twice, fruit, greek yogurt, toast , cooked breakfast a plenty😁, fruit juice was exceptional with 5/6 options, had apple and orange, we were stuffed and took back the room some cousants and fruit to keep us going, the gym was decent under 18's only, had a good session, the pool was great (kids allowed) only 2 hotels in Liverpool have a pool so we all took advantage and worked off the breakie! I'd say the stay was 10/10, I wished we could of stayed longer, the location was fantastic and we went bowling (4 mins walk to Roxy lanes) Liverpool was 2 mins away and we eat out at TGI Fridays which was great btw. Being someone who travels the county regular, I think Liverpool is the best city break available alongside London and this hotel enables you to be at the heart of it. 10/10 book now, we're going again next year! Staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you.

The room was quite gross. The sink smelled of sewage and had some disgusting gunk all over the drain; the coffee machine was covered in a layer of dust and residue, and the bed sheets were ripped. Truly appalling.

Extremely Dangerous and Unsafe Stay – Iron Caught Fire in My Hand with My Two Young Children in the Room

We stayed at the Novotel Liverpool as a family of four, with our two young children aged 4 and 7, and what happened during our stay was absolutely terrifying and completely unacceptable. While ironing my clothes in the room, the iron suddenly caught fire in my hand, throwing sparks everywhere and tripping all the electrics in the room. It could so easily have set the room on fire or seriously injured someone. My children were in the room at the time, and I dread to think what could have happened if they had been any closer — the thought still makes me shudder. This was an extremely dangerous and frightening situation that should never, ever occur in any hotel. I reported it straight away to reception, expecting it to be treated as an emergency. Instead, the response was shockingly dismissive. I was told to come back the next morning to fill in an incident report. When I did, they asked me to fill it in myself, even though that’s the hotel’s responsibility. Then I was told a report had supposedly been done already but was locked in a cupboard and couldn’t be accessed. I was given the maintenance manager’s email address so he could send me a copy, but despite emailing both him and the hotel directly, no one has ever replied. The lack of care or follow-up after such a serious safety incident is completely unacceptable. To make things worse, the overall service in the hotel was dreadful. The bar was chaotic and understaffed — I waited over 20 minutes to be served, and when the barman finally started my order, he stopped halfway through to serve someone else at the far end of the bar. In the restaurant, we asked about the wait for food and were told it was about 45 minutes, but the staff member said he’d check. He returned 20 minutes later just to confirm the wait was still 45 minutes! The whole place felt completely disorganised, like something out of Fawlty Towers. Between the severe fire hazard, the total lack of safety procedures, and the indifference of staff, this hotel is not just badly run — it’s dangerous. Families with young children should be especially cautious. What happened to us could have ended in a serious accident or tragedy, and the hotel’s handling of it was beyond disgraceful.
