I stayed with my significant other at the Novotel London Paddington for five days. I booked the hotel mostly with points through my bank's website. We were not made aware of rennovations through the site but I can understand that given that it was the bank's website. However, we weren't informed of this on check in either. The renovations were really only a problem one night for us as we asked to switch rooms and i guess we got put on a side that wasn't as loud. I should clarify, we actually asked the switch rooms because at first we got an accessible room even though neither of us are disabled. We said this was fine not knowing what it entailed. Once we got in though the shower was just a slightly dipped floor with just a curtain. The water spilled all over the bathroom when we showered so we asked for another room. They were very polite and got us a new room while we were out and we moved when we got back from our excursions. We really appreciated that. The accessible room particularly felt very cold and sterile to us. The new room had a better feel with a better shower but I gotta say honestly even still some of the fixtures and decorations (plastic curtains for example) gave off sort of a nice prison vibe. The pillows were pretty weird (like two smaller pillows or together in a case) and not comfortable. The biggest thing for us was also the lack of outlets by the beds so we couldn't charge our phones next to us while we slept. We didn't end up using the pool or the bar so can't comment on those. The breakfast did have a good selection but quality was mid. This hotel IS indeed very well located and we could walk to the station in a few minutes and get wherever we needed to go. I see a lot of reviews praising this hotel when you're traveling with kids; I'm guessing that's true and we saw a lot of families as well as a lot of people who seemed to be there for work. If you're in either of those camps, I can see why this hotel might be great but if you're single adult or a couple on vacation, I think you could get a better experience elsewhere. Overall, great location and friendly and helpful staff but I wouldn't call it stylish or comfortable.

Awful check in - breakfast included with rate dropped off booking . Com - no insight to help the customer. Ms Sharon Thandi - invest in some training ….. no flexibility - washed their hands - have to contact booking .com was their answer - disappointed start to weekend

Dear Phil, It is important to clarify that your reservation made via booking.com was room only - no breakfast included. Despite your insistence that breakfast was included - when in fact it was not, the Reception team included the breakfast for you and in exchange has only asked to you to forward a copy/screen shot confirmation that you received from booking.com, so we could take the matter directly with booking.com. The confirmation email that you then have forwarded to us, confirmed again that breakfast was not included. This was explained to you and nevertheless, as a goodwill gesture, we decided to keep breakfast in for you as it was clear that your understand was that breakfast should be included regardless. Phil, there is no need of any additional training. Reception dealt with the circumstances presented very well. In the hope that you have enjoyed breakfast, I trust that when the time is right, you will give us the opportunity of welcoming you again in a future visit to London. The chocolate brownie is £11, when you include the auto tip they add on it is over £12 for a tiny dessert. Too much. I think they have got this wrong and need to offer better value with their desserts. This is a good hotel but there was building noise.

We like this hotel but think that £10 for a small chocolate brownie and one scoop of ice cream is taking the P. Draft lager here not good, slightly cheesy, Peroni was particularly bad, Stella not much better, Guinness fine. Hotel and staff good. Building work to replace hotel cladding is noisy.

Nice enough hotel nice communal areas however room small and neither the hotel or hotels.com informed us building work was going on. This is not any confirmation we have received nor were we informed at check in! We had scaffolding outside our window asked to move rooms but told no, the sofa bed is also made up on 2 single beds with metal inbetween not ideal for young children. We messaged the hotel twice prior to arrival to request a cot but no cot when we arrived. The pool is not warm at all. All the guests were saying you can’t stay in it for even 15 minutes. Only one tea bag in the room. Breakfast crowded and not enough tables or staff to manage it. Also the access is not ideal. It’s a 5 min walk to get a taxi again with you children and luggage etc not ideal. Informed reception about our disappointment and they were nothing but defensive. Shane could be a nice hotel but not currently worth the price

Just to clarify that works currently being carried out in our facade are advertised in our webpage and in the reservation confirmation sent to OTAS (Hotels.com being one of them) via our Global Distribution System - "Hotel in renovation- Structural works on the exterior façade. Limited outside view and excessive noise is expected from Monday to Saturday between 09:00 until 17:00". We trust that when the time is right you will give us the opportunity to welcoming you again to our property or one of our sister properties across London.
