The breakfast very bad quality included the servant not respond quickly. I check in at 4 dec and check out at 6 dec, my room not clean up and I ask front desk that she said because I’m not show rapid test.. what stupid reason ??? How come I flight to balikpapan and did not have rapid test. And why receptionist didn’t ask my rapid test. I’m sure novotel balikpapan not have protocol covid. That’s why I move to swissbell hotel and I canceled my booking for long stay at novotel.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. However, the hotel is quite old, and it shows. The furniture looks quite used, there were yellow spots on the toilet seat and dust on the top shelves of the wardrobe. The pool looked old, broken tiles, broken furniture. Breakfast was ok-ish, but not great. Overall acceptable, but imo not a great place to stay.

Its been brought into the hotel management that the Airconditioner temperature controller does not work in this hotel. After staying in multiple rooms in Novotel Balikpapan it was the same in all room and there was a lot of dust coming out of the air vents. People staying in quarantine who does not go out of the room for days is inhaling this dust from the air vents. This is one of the important aspect to get good air in the room and able to adjust the temperature as one desires. Coming to Food, the menu for room service have few items and out of which many are not in stock for my 20+days stay. All the meat and fish is all frozen and will not get anything fresh. Fruits for buffet there is only papaya, watermelon and pineapple which again cut previous day and kept in the fridge, and it will start to rot after its kept on the buffet. When I used to tell the hotel about the quality of food sometimes they have cooked good food and it will last for one day or two and will go back to normal and cook as they like. The water quality in the bathroom is very bad, was getting a skin irritation. Hope you will take this in good sense and get the basics needs taken care of like air, water and food.
