Huge town so great location just next to everything. Good place for a budget hotel. Pretto good value and pretty clean. Nice staff and restaurants and shops all around. Busstops and trams around the corner.

Let me be clear: this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I am baffled as to who could possibly have given this property a 3.5-star rating; it does not deserve it. My nightmare began with the first room, which was no bigger than a prison cell. The windows don't open, leading to the first major issue: a loud, industrial droning noise that went on ALL NIGHT. When I inquired, I was told this was a ventilation fan required to circulate air around the hotel since the windows are sealed. Clearly, it's not working, as evidenced by the mould growing around the shower area. To their credit, after I complained the next day, they moved me to a "better" room. Unfortunately, it suffered from the same fundamental problems. The solution? They issued me ear plugs. The state of the rooms was appalling. The curtains were a joke – the small window had two, while the large window had only one, as if one had been damaged and never replaced. The floors were filthy, the walls were bashed and damaged, and even the bedside light had a switch missing. The neglect extended to the corridors, where damaged walls and gyprock on the floor were left for days. While the beds were made daily, the bed linen was not changed once during my 7-night stay. There is no wardrobe or shelving for clothes, forcing you to live out of your suitcase. The hand basin is a tiny, cloakroom vanity size with no plug, making basic tasks frustrating. The only positive is the location, which is fantastic for accessing Melbourne's CBD. However, this seems to cater exclusively to 18-year-olds on hens or bucks parties who might not care about the state of their accommodation. Bottom Line: Avoid this hotel unless you have extremely low standards and a very high tolerance for noise, filth, and neglect.

Great location, budget accommodation does need TLC, but facilities were clean. Suited my needs perfectly.

Great, central location, 3 stops from Southern Cross Station along Collins Street and a short 1 minute walk from tram stop. The hotel needsTLC big time, so if like me, you don’t mind that, it’s great budget accommodation. The coffee machine is awesome, my cappuccino’s were excellent but use a glass as a cup is too small and it overflows. My booking on another platform included standard continental brekkie, fresh fruit in the bowl. Room was basic, check the photos. The toilet and shower were clean, bed was comfy enough. If you need a hairdryer, get one from reception as not standard in the room.Staff were helpful and friendly, 24/7 reception. Though it needs TLC,I would definitely stay again, the price was very reasonable as I like to spend more money on experiences than accommodation 😉

I unwittingly booked one night at Ibis Budget CBD Melbourne prior to our flight back to WA the following day not realising the AFL Grand Final was also the following day. We are used to "budget" motels and have no problem with basic accommodation. However, upon our return and checking that the "normal" price for this Ibis is around $170-$200 and we were charged $327 I find that a bit galling. Our initial room was shabby and the TV did not work so we were transferred to another room which was much better but the bedhead lights did not work and the aircon remote did not work, probably needing new batteries but at midnight I did not feel like getting up to pursue the matter. And for $327 I expect things to work! Having said that the bed was comfortable and had clean crisp linen. Shower and toilet adequate with two all in one body wash bottles. Tea and coffee available. Basic breakfast of cereals, toast, pancakes, apples, juices, tea, coffee, all fine. The saving grace of this Ibis was the staff - super helpful, friendly and efficient especially Sean (not sure of spelling) who made another room available to us and the receptionist the following morning, who with her reception duties was supervising the breakfast room as well! I would stay here again but only at the normal rates which are good for a budget motel but I would advise to be aware of big events when booking dates.
