I have been coming to Seoul for business and pleasure for many years. This hotel has been my go-to because it has been clean, well run, and in a convenient location. Usually I am flying overnight to get here. Followed by a 2 hour cab ride. So yes, exhausted. I still remember my first arrival years ago. They didn’t have a room available, but suggested we take a nice soak in their traditional Korean hot bath (pro tip), and got us rooms at 11:30 or noon. They were kind and hospitable and I always remembered and returned. Today I asked about the bath (it wasn’t suggested or offered) and was able to get it. I was told the hotel wasn’t full and they’d see what they could do to help. I returned at noon and nothing was available. I ate the lunch buffet (best to avoid) and returned at 1. I was told “check in time is 2, repeatedly), There is now a group of at least 10 people in the lobby, who I assume will push past me to check in even though I’ve been waiting 4 hours. The young msn who clearly couldn’t care less that he works in the hospitality industry just repeats his line. You don’t need staff like that. A kiosk would suffice. Robotic? Inflexible? Uncaring? You choose. If you get in before 2 you’re out of luck. Because it might take 5 minutes of effort to see if a room was available. Instead of staring off into space. Room’s don’t all miraculously turn clean at 2. Things change. Hospitality and problem solving become robotic repetition. Not for the better.

Stayed here in late May & early June to unwind and introduce our first-time family members to Seoul. Location is good, and accessible to many shops and street food in the heart of Myeongdong. Breakfast was acceptable considering the price, and the room was adequately sized. This would be a great option if you want to be in a bustling & vibrant area and if you enjoy shopping.

It is a perfectly located hotel in the centre of Seoul. Walking distance to a few attractions around. Rooms are clean and bed are comfortable. Breakfasts were OK (except for cheese, but finding a good cheese in Asia is always tricky). The wine bar had a bit high prices but it was convenient to meet there as it was just opposite the reception. Both the wine bar and breakfast place has nice view towards the TV tower. It is easily accessible by airport limousine bus, since the bus stop is literally outside of the hotel. The only big downside it the name. On two different occasions taxi drivers took me to a different hotel called Ibis Styles Ambassador Seoul Myeongdong, despite of me giving them correct name of this hotel (without 'Styles'). I think it is silly that the chain used so similar names.

I stayed here for 25 nights in May-June 2023. I had previously stayed at this hotel in 2012, and twice in 2014. Things have changed, in that there are less staff and no concierge to help with luggage, etc. However, the rooms have been refurbished, and I was happy with mine, although there were some issues with the bathroom. Green Tea and coffee are provided in the room. When I asked for black tea, I was told it wasn't possible. However, there was some in the breakfast room, so I took a few teabags back to my room each day. Two bottles of water are provided daily in your room, which I really appreciated. The main reason to stay here is the excellent location. Situated in Myeongdong, this hotel is in a prime location to explore the Myeongdong Markets every evening; and surrounding cafes, restaurants and shops. It's only around a ten minute walk to Namdaemun Market; and a cheap taxi ride to Gyeongbokgung, Gwanghwamun, Insadong, etc. Dongdaemun is well worth checking out for cheap prices on womens fashion, and is about ten minutes in a taxi. Taxis are cheap; but not many drivers speak English, so it's wise to have your destination written down in Hangul to make things easier. The breakfast at Ibis Ambassador Myeongdong is excellent - bacon, eggs, cereals, pastries, stir-fry meals, salads, fruit and the occasional bulgogi. It's well worth paying for the breakfast! My sincere thanks to the lovely breakfast staff, especially James, who went out of his way to help me; and was always welcoming and friendly. Thanks also to Sam on the Front Desk, who speaks excellent English, and was a great help to me. I can only highly recommend this hotel for anyone coming to Seoul who wants a hotel in a prime location with good facilities. I look forward to returning!
