I stayed at Novotel Ambassador Seoul with high expectations — and in many ways, the hotel lived up to them. The room was comfortable, the facilities were excellent, and I would rate all aspects of the property itself a perfect 10. However, my experience at check-in was disappointing. I had a confirmed reservation through the Accor All app, but I was charged a higher rate by Officer Mark Lee at the front desk. I later realized there was a discrepancy of over 40,000 KRW, which was corrected after I reported it from my room. I appreciated the prompt response and welcome drink coupon offered, but the interaction itself left a negative impression. It didn’t help that Mr. Lee suggested I take the subway to my next destination because it was “cheaper” — instead of simply offering options like taxi first, then subway. It felt like a judgment of my financial ability, which was unwelcome. I also experienced a lapse in housekeeping. Despite leaving my key and confirming with another receptionist (Ms. Anna Kim), the room wasn’t cleaned — only towels were replaced. Even by evening, the room had not been serviced. Bellboy Noah Kim happened to witness the "Make Up Room" light still on during his rounds. Lastly, I gave a 6 rating not to criticize, but to encourage improvement. This hotel has strong potential and could become a top destination for travelers. With better service consistency, I believe it can achieve that. Despite the hiccups, I enjoyed my stay and would return again.
