Rooms were disappointing. Aircon did not work well, had to set aircon at 29oC to get warmth. Breakfast offer was poor in range and quality. Staff had language problems but were pleasant in trying. Room rate was too high for room quality offered. Would not recommend this property to friends.

Its been sometime since staying at the this hotel and its always been my Canberra accommodation when I'm in town. The Hotel has charm and I understand that. But, the rooms are in desperate need of a revamp, the bed has seen better days. The shower was full of mould and my sheets had hard black balls throughout them. When I requested more pillows it seems as though they didn't want to assist me. In saying that I did receive my extra pillows but it took some convincing. I never received my usual gold member welcome gift and that was disappointing. Over all this visit was a little average.

Comfortable Historic building hotel

Reception was very friendly, making sure we know the building layout and where we could have breakfast and where the bistro is. No complaints about the room, minor quible is that we could not get the (seemingly new) TV to work properly, always one or two apps crashed.

Its what happens when things don't go to plan

We love the Mecure Canberra, and this is why. The front of office staff were sincerely honest about the night time (after hours) menu: very limited choice and you might be better organising an uber eats delivery. We risked it on the first night. Back late, very late. Very hungry. And yes, we should have taken their advice - very average. We were in the same predicament on the second night. But this time the front office staff took our order from their superb (normal hours) dining menu from the in-house pub/restaurant and had the meals prepared just before 'last orders' and had it delivered to the front office. As we were on our way back to the hotel we contacted the front office and they reheated our meals and had them ready in our room on arrival. And to our surprise, they apologised for the poor meal the night before, and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine as part of their apology. It is when things don't go to plan and what happens next is the real test. The Mecure Canberra initiated and overcame our predicament and went beyond our expectation. This is the second time we have stayed there. And we will stay there again.
