My family appreciated our stay in Novotel, The staffs were very helpful. The hotel provides us almost every facilities . Food was great(i mean it :))Overall experience was awesome. I'll recommend this hotel to every couple and families:). You wont regret, just be there:)

Check in was chaotic. Room wasn’t ready until gone 4pm. Staff seemed over stretched and communication was poor. The room itself was just average. Very strange layout with a separate toilet. I have definitely stayed in better hotels with more engaged staff. The plus side is great location close to shopping and public transport. Breakfast was nice. The car park is small and over priced I wouldn’t bother paying for this! There are loads of car parks around that are much cheaper.

The staff were very Friendly but the stay was majorly let down by the cleanliness of the room. We didn't check in until after midnight so there can be no excuse for the room not being ready and up to standard, but the bin wasn't emptied, the bed wasn't properly made and there were no large towels available in the room. Based on the condition of the room I'm not even confident that the room had been sanitised or cleaned at all, and after years of staying in Novotel hotels for the first time I'm strongly questioning if I'd stay in one again!

Well located at Reading Centre

The hotel is well located in Reading centre, convenient to go to shops and restaurants in town. Room was spacious but air conditioning was not working well, overall quite warm. Breakfast and facilities are good.

This Novotel is in a very central location for access to Reading town centre, the Oracle shopping centre and the Thames. The hotel felt quiet with plenty of space at Breakfast. We were pleased there was still a buffet breakfast during Covid times. We went for a leisure break, primarily to rest and use the pool. The pool was a little smaller than expected and sometimes had one lane out of use for lessons. Nevertheless, it was all one depth so very family friendly. I would have liked chairs around the pool to sit and be with my children without having to get changed, but there was a room adjacent to the pool for observation, with direct access to the pool area. After we checked in we found our room had no cold water, as my daughter had to jump out of a increasingly hot shower. The hotel staff said they'd had to turn the water off due to a leakage. We were given another room, and one with a nicer view. Overall we found the staff pleasant and helpful.

Good stay for family of 4 with good service nice pool witch kids love great breakfast service a bit nosy in the night over weekend with a lot of young people enjoying relaxing of rules but after that all good

Great hotel stay, especially in the circumstances, with a warm welcome and very friendly service throughout. How refreshing to find a hotel with deep baths, somewhere to unwind and relax comfortably, with the benefit of being able to watch the TV from it too.

I’d booked the Ibis so was pleasantly surprised to be transferred to the Novotel. The initial greeting was warm but then it transpired my booking and payment for breakfast couldn’t be found. After some delay and computer checking it was eventually found and the front desk team were apologetic. The hotel is ok, it’s clean and tidy and has a bit of extra comfort over the Ibis. The atmosphere was a bit quiet. But at breakfast the confusion over the breakfast booking sadly continued, it couldn’t be found and I was told I’d need to ‘take it up with reception’ myself. I asked if they wouldn’t mind checking for me as I’d already gone through this the day before but that was met with apathy and she made the point it was her last day and doesn’t really care. With all that in mind id describe it as a very mediocre experience in a half empty soulless disorganised hotel in the midst of a pandemic, and I’m in no rush to go back.

A good room in town center

A very professional approach from the staff regarding everything we needed. We had room service cocktails and we got the swimming pool as extra (we had been upgraded from our Ibis stay next door to this room). The room itself was big and modern with a large tv and a modern bathroom. The only complaint about the room was the cigarrette smoke present in the room (or coming from the aircon) which for a non smoker it can't be missed (hence why the sleep quality rating is lower rated by me).

Had two nights here and had a great stay. The pool and gym are open early and close late and the rooms are a great size the staff were lovely and helpful, and we enjoyed a meal in the bar once. It was 10 x better than your average hotel

Am going back there again. This Novotel has everything you can ask for... sauna,steam room,pool ,family rooms and close to everything. Train station,shops,buses ,restaurant etc. Went there with my family to celebrate wife's birthday

i have been visiting this hotel a few times now ..with my family and also alone .the stay has always been excellent.great space in rooms lovely bathrooms and great external light..daily cleaning ...great abundant breakfast ..and all the staff are so so helpful.

Hi Was overall dissatisfied with the level of service at the Novotel Reading; Heating did not work Drainage for the sink was not working Key cards were constantly not working and had to get them reset several times No one picked up the phone at reception after trying to contact them several time about the issues This is not the level of services I expected from such a reputable company

The staff in this hotel are excellent and very attentive, always available to help. Rooms are very comfortable, quiet and clean. The location is exceptionally convenient for Reading town and railway station.

There was a problem at reception. Having been checked into a room reserved and paid for online I was then brought back downstairs and told I was not booked in! There was chaos in reception and I was deeply humiliated as it was inferred/suggested that I had not booked the hotel but the one next door. I had not. Long story short having taken payment online and then again on arrival - saying they do not take payment online - they do, I had the room withdrawn and returned to Somerset a completely wasted 300 mile round trip. I will never stay at this groups hotels ever again. No one seemed to care or be in charge. It is now Monday afternoon and non of my money paid in has been returned.

Poor overall stay

On getting to the hotel noone on the front desk informed me of the swimming pool the times it's open n shut or would I like to fill in the paperwork etc requires for that when I was checking in. The shower was of very poor power the bed sheets nearly fitted the edging of the bed and were easy in tucked causing discomfort. The bath the part you twist to release the plug it self to drain the bath broke and came apart in my hard. There was what looked to be like blood or possibly ketchup on the wall in a number of places. This was meant to be a great treat for me and my other half for our 2nd anniversary.

The staff are of a high standard and the hotel is comfortable. For its price you find it hard to beat. If you want to park a car at the hotel carpark then book it when you book your room as there is only limited parking

A Relaxed and Comfortable stay

The second time we have stayed here within a couple of months. All staff are so accommodating and friendly. Very clean and comfortable stay. Breakfast was amazing with a varied choice dinner was also lovely.

Almost perfect, but...

Arriving on the last day of the Reading festival is probably asking for trouble. I had pre-booked a parking space, and double checked via email in advance that it would be available. Sadly when I arrived a mix up had occured and my space did not exist. In all honesty there is a perfectly adequate NCP carpark a few minutes walk away which you can validate your parking for to get a very reasonable rate. Once parked, the reception staff acknowledged their error, gave plans to prevent such things from happening again and compensated me for my inconvenience. You can always judge any business by how they handle a mistake, and I have to say that they handled it well. After this slightly bumpy start, the rest of the stay was great. The room was very comfortable, the bar and breakfast were very pleasant and the staff were unfailingly polite. The free ice cream when leaving back into the sweltering heat on Monday ,morning was most welcome too! I'd stay again, but would probably just park in the NCP and avoid a lot of grief.
