Wedding stop over , great venue for a Friday wedding , bar staff great and breakfast in the morning was a much needed item, which was plentiful and tasted good. Only shame was traffic noise during the early hours of the morning.

We had a pleasant three nights stay. The hotel is very well run and very well presented. The staff throughout are exceptionally good. There is a welcoming bar, and a very pleasant restaurant. Easy parking and excellent wifi. Breakfast is an extensive buffet. Easy to find this hotel, it's just a couple of minutes off junction 6 of the M40, right on the corner of the A40.

Very Good but Denied Access to all Outside Public Spaces

This was my second visit to Thame Lambert - we returned because we wanted a hotel with generous outside spaces for both eating and leisure. Unfortunately there was a conference and the dining patio and gardens were out of bounds until 'officially' 2:00 pm of our second day. In reality, although the conference finished around that time, the debris remained for a couple of hours and rendered the garden unusable. Apart from that, the staff were all extremely helpful, the food both at breakfast and dinner, was very good and our room was excellent - clean and comfortable. It was just a pity that a courtesy call from the management to warn us of the conference and their requirements, was not made. I imagine that the superb weather prompted the conference organisers to request the exclusive use of the grounds - management shoud not forget clients who are paying full price, NOT corporate rates, deserve to be treated as equalls, if not priority guests. We mentioned this both during our stay and at check out - we were told that our comments would be passed on to management - if they were, we still haven't heard anything from them.

Check in was not really friendly. No upgrade possibilities. No welcome drinks. Paid for breakfast but received a bag with poor content, given to us the evening before. Even the IBIS Southampton managed to serve fresh pastries and Porridhe during Covid - this Mercure didn't.

I am sorry your experience was not a good one and I do apologise for this. We are working under restricted conditions currently and we have reviewed the breakfast offering and we are looking at ways to introduce a plated cooked breakfast from January 2021.

Even taking into account Covid-19 restrictions, this was a very poor experience. The hotel seemed to have only two members of staff on duty; breakfast was served in a paper bag with plastic utensils but nothing to eat off of – so we had to crowd round the occasional table in our room and try not to make a mess. There was no fresh tea and coffee offered with breakfast, and no extra supplies in the room – we had to ask at the bar before heading to bed. We had to move from our seats in the bar area due to the presence of several small flies buzzing around our heads. And before going to bed I discovered a disposable contact lens on the bedside table – this in a property which is meant to be subject to ever-more-stringent cleaning, according to the hotel's website. We barely saw any staff during our stay. And on check-out there was no-one in reception and no way of attracting attention. I left, having had my credit card checked when I checked in the previous day. Only a hunch convinced me to return to reception (still deserted). Only when I heard noise coming from the kitchen did I manage to attract the attention of the receptionist. Guess what? My credit card had not been approved. Good job I went looking for a member of staff or I expect I would have received a fairly pointed request for payment, at the least. Overall, this was a thoroughly dis-spiriting visit to a hotel I've used before. Even taking into account the limitations placed on hotels by the government's Covid-19 restrictions, this was a very poor experience. At no point did I feel welcome or that my custom was valued. The hospitality industry cannot survive if this is to be the standard guest experience. A week earlier, we had stayed at the Doubletree hotel in Newbury – a property of a similar size and layout. There the experience, although hampered by Covid restrictions, could not have been more different. There were plenty of staff, and they were friendly and welcoming. And they managed to offer fresh tea and coffee and the option of eating the (similarly bagged) breakfast in the reception area. While still not an ideal experience, it was considerably better than what was offered here. And £20 cheaper.

Thank you for your feedback and comments and kindly comparing us to a hotel with 113 Bedrooms and a Leisure Centre run by the Hilton Group against a privately owned 48 Bedroom country Inn where I am sure Hiltons resources are considerably more than ours. That said we clearly failed in attempts to get things right during these very difficult trading times despite our best efforts. We are continuing to learn and having to readjust to our trading levels that at the moment are difficult to predict as some people have the attitude its fine it wont happen to me to those who are far more cautious and appreciate what we are trying to do. Breakfast is clearly explained and advised on check in that it is a continental with Fresh Fruit Juice Yogurt Croissant Muffins Breakfast Bar Butters and Jam provided in a take away box as single wrapped products as per advice given to us. We are about to start plated cooked Breakfast offering so I hope this will appease people but again this will be done to certain product offering. We have worked very hard to attain a score of 97% from Accor and continue to try to be better. I am sorry we failed in our housekeeping and can assure you I take this seriously to the point I have bought back extra staff who are purely concentrating on deep cleaning the rooms to include carpet sanitisation cleaning and full bed strips and again sanitisation of the whole rooms that we are bringing back on line. I have been staying at the Lambert Hotel a few times a year for the last 10 years for business reasons. I have always enjoyed the stays, Rooms are clean and spacious, Bar\Restaurant have a really nice ambiance with a great selection of drinks and excellent food. Staff are always helpful and always try to make your stay as enjoyable as it can be. Great place to base yourself weather you are away on business or pleasure.

The room was great - modern and clean and comfortable. Good value and friendly staff. The rooms are all accessed outside from a courtyard so they are removed from the noise of the hotel and very quiet.

Xmas night stay

I booked two rooms for our family visit. There was difficulty in checking in online via the email and app but going via the web site was ok. The staff were excellent and the breakfast buffet very adequate. The room was very clean and the extra bed was fitted as requested.

Tour. Very good situation close to motorway. Very friendly staff. Room in courtyard was bigger than expected. As it was not directly linked to the hotel it could be a problem if the weather is bad getting from room to restaurant and bar. Good food and service.

Get a Courtyard room

Have stayed here a few times, but probably won’t go back. Was allocated a room inside the main building, which was tired - broken tiles, shower mechanism and right on noisy main road. On check it very rushed and no how was your stay! Food in restaurant okay

We were visiting Oxford, but decided to stay at this hotel as prices in the city centre were far higher. The hotel is very easy to find, just off the M40. There is ample carparking space. Check-in was completed quickly. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of our room and of the bathroom: very spacious. They were also quiet; although the motorway is visible from the hotel I noticed, when I stood outside, that I could not hear the traffic. Very comfortable night's sleep and a good breakfast to set us up for the day. There is plenty of outdoor seating in well-maintained areas.

A great hotel and well placed for motorway access to either London or Oxford/The Midlands. With it being relatively new the decor is in great shape and with the onsite pub restaurant you cannot ask for more. My only issue was the size of the bath towels, I ended up using both though I am not that big they were a little on the small size. Otherwise room facilities and bathroom are great.

A great place for a weekend with friends!

We booked this hotel for a weekend with 3 friends, as we wanted to be close to Oxford but not in the centre. From the moment we arrived we knew that we had made a good decision. The hotel exterior and the grounds are well maintained and attractive. The staff were immediately friendly and helpful. The rooms we had were well maintained, clean, comfortable and provided all we wanted and expected. Breakfast and dinner were also very good; in fact dinner was excellent, with a reasonably wide choice of dishes suitable for all tastes and all the food was cooked to a high standard, well presented and served by delightful staff. The hotel provides areas inside and out for sitting and relaxing or meeting as a group and we had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend there and would definitely book again.

)verall a good stay. small issues but did not stop us enjoying our 2 nights. Breakfast was 9/10 !! Devil is the detail. Our room was cold on arrival, Shower tap broken Location is a relatively peaceful one

Really super hotel and staff very helpful, great food and breakfast. Handy for motorway access but far enough away to cut he noise and to Oxfords surrounding countryside. Well worth a visit if close by.

Lovely room which was warm and a comfortable bed. Great to have a fridge in the room to keep water and fresh milk( which we like in our drinks) cold. Evening meal very good and breakfast fantastic! staff very friendly. The only negative is there was no one at reception on arrival, had to wait for bar man to serve customers before he could fetch someone to reception, Think a bell on reception is needed if it is not going to be covered continuously as reception is the first impression of a hotel !

Fawlty Towers comes to mind. I arrived at 18.10. Had checked in on line. Met by a gentleman on what I can describe as a temporary reception, otherwise a desk in front of the main door and toilets.The receptionist/gentleman was very abrupt and unclear in what he said or am I getting deaf. He gave information in such a speedy way, he couldn't get away quick enough. He asked what time I wanted to have evening meal, but he asked for 15 mins later.When I entered my Courtyard room it was freezing, as the fan was blowing cold and it was 3 degrees outside. I went for my meal at 19.15 and was sat on a large corner table, facing the wall in no mans land. Surprisingly there was only ten people in that dining room, and I was refused the 19.00 time as they were too busy.My first course arrived 20.10, the second 20.45, but before this one I was brought a drink as an apology for waiting too long for what turned out to be a microwaved sweet.All this time, a waiter and waitress was rushing about just like a scene from Fawlty Towers dining room.Mr room was adjoining another, and the couple in it were talking till late and then woke me talking at 05.00, so soundproofing poor.Breakfast was different again, service good!Checking out my bill was incorrect, but receptionist pleasant.The sad thing here is, I have stopped at this Hotel several times before under the old ownership, and was good obviously.My next time to the Oxford area, I won't be frequenting this establishment.

We arrives at the Mercure Thame Lambert intending to stay just one night. Checked in online and collected the key card to our room from a polite, well presented young lady. The room was large, clean and well kept; though there were signs of lack of maintenance in the stairwell leading to the upper floor.We enjoyed an excellent breakfast and departed for a day in Oxford where we decided to stay a further night and returned to the hotel to check-in again. Was somewhat surprised we were to be charged £25 more than the previous night but following a little discussion we were given an excellent deal on a Bed and Breakfast offer.We made the decision to eat in the restaurant; something I rarely do in hotels as experience has shown hotel food to be less than great. However, we enjoyed an excellent meal, served by attentive but not servile staff and cannot fault our meal, though I did feel I was having my leg taken up by the price of a glass of cheap Rose.Overall, we were delighted with our two day stay and will certainly be going back again.As a driver of an all electric car, we were delighted to find the Mercure, and others, had a high speed charger.
